RAZORCAKE MAG REVIEW
Permanent Records, 5116 York Blvd., Los Angeles (Highland Park), CA 90042
While buying records used to be something I was passionate about, I stopped buying them years ago. I would go to Amoeba occasionally and now I don’t even go there. In the mean time, new record stores like Permanent Records have opened and records have made quite a comeback.
I went on Record Store Day and it was way too crowded to do much shopping. But I did appreciate how they were prepared for RSD and very nice. People in line received numbered ordered forms and pens. We were asked to write down the number of the records (RSD records were numbered) on the slip. They called people up by number.
I saw some bargain bins, cassettes (they’re back too), and a good selection of punk records. They had new and used records/vinyl. Permanent Records also has their own record label. It’s a smaller store but one of the few that participated in RSD. They buy record collections.
Also, they have another store directly across the street. I didn’t visit that one but I think it’s smaller.
