Persona synastry is an (experimental) form of synastry that compares two persona charts to study how specific psychological or archetypal aspects of two people interact. This is different from natal synastry because we are not comparing two entire birth charts; we are looking at a specific, concentrated part of two charts and how they interact with one another. Persona charts isolate the particular planetary or asteroid functions, such as love, desire, emotional needs, downfalls, etc., and study the compatibility, activation, or tension within those energies.

For example, Venus persona synastry is going to heavily focus on how two people's expressions of love, attraction, creativity, desire, etc interact with one another. A mars persona synastry will focus on physical chemistry, sexual dynamics, sexual preferences, who is dominant / who is submissive, conflicts and arguments etc.

This form of synastry study is really useful to get to the nitty and gritty of certain connections. I find it valuable to understand the psychological perspectives from both ends, and persona synastry can also reveal projection, hidden intentions, attraction levels, emotional entanglements, and most importantly — psychological resonance that might not otherwise be seen more visible in traditional natal synastry.

select charts and calculations
extended chart selection
under chart type, click persona chart
click "show chart"
make sure your chart is selected
under where it says "Horoscope for" should be another drop box with the first planet being listed as the moon, click this box and select the planet or asteroid you are drawing a chart for.
Draw the chart and click "add to my astro" to save the info
repeat these steps, just switching out the other person's name under the horoscope tab.
take both persona charts and draw a synastry chart - this is the info we are looking at.

NOTE: Persona synastry is STILL considered an experimental technique, NOT universally accepted or established as a branch of astrology. I have to emphasize that there really is little literature surrounding the use of this synastry even if many have found it to be accurate. Applying this method would and SHOULD be purely for entertainment purposes only and not applied in practice professionally.

Mars persona synastry can sometimes show who sexualizes who, or is sexually attracted to whom first, especially when there is a tight Mars/Venus contact (specifically conjunctions/squares / trines). This can show the nature of the "chase" between two people. Mars/Lilith can show the raw sexual desire between people and can sometimes even show how the two people sexualize each other, sexually fixate or obsess with each other, and even the dark/taboo thoughts they have about each other. Of course, tight squares/oppositions cause more tension in these areas, or even more aggression. Conjunctions add emphasis to this energy in the connection over all.
Harsh Saturn persona contacts can create this feeling of someone owning you, emotionally. One person might feel unconsciously responsible for regulating, containing, or controlling the other in some way.
If you are wondering why you feel insecure in certain areas around them, but confident in others, it's a good idea to pay attention to 12th house overlays. Here is where you will find how this person makes you feel unsure of what's really going on. If its a moon persona synastry chart and there's a heavy 12H emphasis, this could mean that parts of how the other person expresses their emotions are hidden, and the aspects/planets/asteroids will tell you if it's intentional or not, and what kind of emotions they are hiding. This can also just show that major parts of the person's emotional world are just hidden and suppressed.
Check your mercury persona synastry charts to get more insight on how the two of you communicate, what specifically you discuss a lot about, the tension that you face in specific conversations, and if you are clear communicators or struggle. If there's a lot of 4H overlays in this chart, that shows that the two of you focus a lot of mental energy on your family, discussing familial wounds, childhood trauma, matters of the heart etc. 3H emphasis shows the kind of connection were you both can just piggy back on with each other naturally, and feel like you never want everybody to talk to. With this overlay, you could feel like you have a strong friendship alongside love with this person. 8H overlays care show that they possibly come into your life during a period of necessary healing, or change. They might see the psychological framework that you tried to hide very well also. It's also a good idea to take note of any conjunctions or hard aspects because that could show the natural flow/date of conversation between you and this person. It could also show if you have aggressive communication especially if there is a heavy Mars / uranus / Pluto energy in this chart.
Make sure you are checking out your venus persona synastry with a lot of pluto contacts if you are wondering why someone is very emotionally intense with you. This can create intense emotional fixation, because attraction here feels very consuming, psychologically invasive, and really difficult to understand.
Creating a persona chart between a person's venus persona chart and another person's saturn persona can show how easy/hard it is for someone to let go or move on. Even after separation, this kind of chart can show how emotionally attached two people are, or how emotionally/psychologically "cemented" they are in each other's psyche and lives.
Someone's lilth persona chart (lilith or personal placements), conjunct another person's ASC in synastry can create a serious hyperawareness between both people. These people can become unsually fixated on each other, or how each other experiences one another. They might become very concerned with how the other person perceives them physically, sexually, and just in general. It's like both people seek the approval of another, while subtly rejecting it in a push/pull dynamic.
Pluto persona overlays in the other person's 1H can show where one of you unintentionally creates or causes a transformative period in one's life, or where the person unintentionally helps the other person transform their self-image, confidence or self-expression. Now, this can be a good or bad thing.
Having chiron in 3H/9H/11H in moon/moon persona synastry with someone can create the kind of friendship or connection that feels safe enough to discuss anything with this person. Healing could be done through late night conversations, drives, texts/phone calls, letters, etc. Communication between the two seep into one another's subconscious and words stick like honey to the soul, forever.
A synastry chart between your neptune persona and someone's mars persona chart will show you how the two of you fantasize about one another, how you desire one another, seduce each other, escapism between the both of you, lust, and how the attraction between you two can turn toxic. Having a lot of jupiter activation/aspects within this synastry can suggest amplified desire between the both of you, or it can make the connection feel like it's meant to be, even if things between you two are not grounded in reality. This is also a good chart to study where possible addictions/fixations happen between you two, and where they are or are not grounded in reality in general. For instance, if there's jupiter in the 12H in this chart, or there's just a lot of 12H emphasis, this could mean that the fantasy created between the two people itself becomes emotionally addictive. This could even make the fantasy element of the connection more enticing than the connection itself.
