Technologies developed for use in mini air conditioners has enabled a growing population to stay cool without the elevated cooling costs to control temperature in an entire building or facility. There are mini air conditioners currently on the market that boast the ability to lower air temperature to nearly freezing. There are a growing number of producers of mini air conditioners that have compressed their technology into units fitting a consumer’s hand. The luxury of a portable air conditioning system is not lost on any who are regularly exposed to uncomfortable heat in spaces where a large or commercial cooling system is not reasonable. Most of the handheld or portable mini air conditioners on the market rely on evaporative cooling technology for their climate control. Evaporative cooling involves soaking a cooling filter with water so that, when the fan on the system is engaged, the water evaporates and blows through the fan blades as fresh, cool air.

Mini air conditioners can be used as tools for the improvement of health when a user is suffering from breathing conditions or an increased sensitivity to heat. Three days ago I finished my personal cooling fan working prototype.

In my next version, I plan on making the case smaller, the fan quieter, and I intend to put in an on-off-on switch that adds another setting to this which varies fan speed based on sensed heat.
