Small Update

I'm leaving in less than a week! I'm trying not to stress out and also trying to give everyone I care about time to say goodbye, but it's happening! It's happening, and whether I feel ready or not, there's no turning back. I'm doing this. I'm stretching farther than I've ever stretched.

pretty successful day at the college, took some great photos, met some cool people and even did a bit of modeling.

Thoreau says, “... If I devote myself to other pursuits and contemplations, I must first see, at least, that I do not pursue them sitting upon another man’s shoulders.” I guess that’s fundamentally how I feel about my pursuit of what is true or my search for the intrinsic nature of things. I have to make sure that my understanding is not simply the absorption of ideas of others – especially not simply those that appear to be beautiful or “comfy”. And that’s a struggle! Because I think people gravitate towards what is pleasing to them, and comfort and beauty are definitely pleasing. It gives us security and stability; it’s a place to root that is enjoyable. But what is comfortable is not always what is true. And I can’t settle! I can’t settle for something that just satiates my qualms and lulls them to sleep. I can’t accept something just because it looks nice.

That awkward moment when...

The schedule for work says to be there at 12:45 but then your boss texts you at 11:45 asking where you are and that the 12:45 was a typo. So now you rush to get to work thinking you're in trouble but as soon as you get there your boss is all like "I feel sick. I'm going home. You're in charge." And you're just like "ALRIGHTY THEN." ... Because that happened to me today.
