My brain is really good at coming up with stories then speed running them to reach the next part of the story
I was thinking about a wenclair divorce au where Enid and Wednesday get married young and after five years Enid seeks a divorce for multiple reasons.
Wednesday misinterprets the divorce as a step that will just lead to a different form of relationship between her and Enid.
The day before the divorce papers are too be signed Wednesday realizes her mistake. Coming to the conclusion Enid wants her completely extricated from her life and knowing she won't be able to handle that so Wednesday disappears.
She left legal instructions with Agnes to tell Enid she could have all of their shared assets and if she did not return in seven years to declare her dead.
Seven years go by and Enid is now a wildly successful executive at Frump Moriarty Services, Hester having died, when Agnes comes to her.
Over the years Agnes and Wednesday have maintained dead drops only communicating that she was still alive. The last dead drop included further instructions, Wednesday had spent the last seven years disrupting and taking down organized crime targeting Outcasts. In dead drop she left information that she was putting herself in an death fighting with no means to pull herself out.
If she missed the next drop to consider her lost and deliver a love letter to Enid. Agnes had tracked down the fighting league and needs help rescuing Wednesday. Enid unsure if she wants to get involved considers just hiring people to rescue her but Agnes explains it's incredibly corrupt and anyone who can be hired can be bought.
Wednesday for her part has become the champion warrior of the league. She had taken on a seventeen year old protégé. A type seer known as a hummingbird, whose visions are more akin to short range precognition able to predict events a few minutes in advance.
Wednesday begins having visions of kill a blonde alpha werewolf and has to decide where her allegiances lie.
And this is where the story jumps after escaping Wednesday signs the divorce papers saying Enid deserves someone better then her. After the papers are signed Enid agrees that the marriage had to end but is not opposed to dating.
Wednesday wants to take it slow not just because she wants to correct the mistakes of the past but because she has decided to adopt the hummingbird.
The enby hummingbird has spent most of her life in the fighting league and is having a hard time transitioning to a normal life.
Wednesday enrolls her in a much smaller school for outcasts then Nevermore. It is for particularly volatile older teenagers and young adults.
One of her classmates is Divina who was turned by Yoko and is basically going through vampire puberty. One of the reasons born vampires spend so long at outcasts schools like Nevermore is to make sure they can master there powers and cravings. Vampires who are turned have a greater struggle with this.
Another student is the androgynous masc son of Bianca and Ajax who Wednesday had to pull out of a life of crime several years early and has been at the school ever since. The Hummingbird immediately forms a combative rival relationship with him.
Finally her roommate is a cheerful sweet outcast not dissimilar to Enid but has incredibly volatile powers that no one can quite pin down. She had developed tendencies bordering on psychotic and the Hummingbird takes to her as a beat friend.
Wednesday installs herself at the school teaching self restraint through combat and discipline. She becomes nervous when she learns Hummingbirds new friend was found at the gruesome murder site of her entire family. Then spent her youth in mental health intuitions before being transferred to the school.
Wednesday doesn't want to tell her sonter not to be friends because she is happy to see them learning to put trust in other. So she begins to investigate the girls case all while teaching troubled young adults and attempting to rekindle her relationship with Enid.
And this fic’s conflict is in development. I started it a while back, then again a few months ago. And once again I will be taking it down as I the plot still does not work well.
Truth is, there are a LOT of characters (as usual my main problem). But I think I’ve now chose my main narrator and POV to help us explore the Peninsulars and the rogue demigods’ plights.
Sorry I haven’t shared much, this year has been hectic but here’s an advanced look into how it’s going to look like. I’m not sure it’ll stay in AO3 or if I’ll migrate it to another platform. So far, this is what I have: an almost complete introduction and the first part of a later chapter that I hold dear.
I admit I’m considering doing a pattern as these take a lot of time and work hasn’t been stable.
I was toying with the design of one of my OCs today, I gave her a fun handmade talisman hat. She's a Daoist cultivator and engineer named Liu Guiying 刘 桂英. I'm designing her mask next! (and yes, it's Xianxia steampunk, chill. The Eternal Dao suggests becoming a cyborg as a legit way to attain immortality, and I think that's pretty sick.)
