Writing meta about Jeweler Richard and YuuMori is like "look at all these clever things they put in there on purpose to think about and uncover and subtly tease out."
Wanting to write that kind of meta for Dr. STONE is like, "You're honestly probably thinking harder about these details than the creators did."
There is no symbolism here. There are no background scaffolding details to pick apart. The pacing in the anime is actually better than it is in the manga. The characters are largely compelling but most of them are almost entirely static, and the romance arcs are accordingly...uh. I mean, some of the couples got married, and that's that on that.
There are interesting conceits and lots of fun references, and it's not that there is no point or intention or message to any of it. There are. It is not a series with nothing to say.
It's just that there is a complete and utter lack of subtlety on anything important, and a number of confusing contradictions on minor points that don't matter but which do indicate the author did not think those pats through or care about them. Because, again, fundamentally do not matter to the story being told.
I find all that stuff more interesting at the moment because it's where my head as been for the last few years and how I have always trended toward writing, but it's fundamentally all headcanons to make what's there pull in my direction instead of actual analysis.
There is analysis to write. I've done it before, occasionally. And I should really do more of it to stretch my craft skills back toward the joyful and fun where they've been malingering away for the last several years.
It would productive and useful for me. But my brain is currently chasing the cheap dopamine hit of, "Stan would have been a legendary male cheerleader," and various other nonsense.
Hm.
just started crying over that "26" live performance where hayley cries mid song and then youtube suggested that "i caught myself" one when hayley had just broke up with that asshole cheater and you can see the pain in her eyes from the bridge part till the end and i OBVIOUSLY HAD TO CLICK i CAN't .........................
omg you guys know what’s hilarious? Polish national television approached me yesterday and tried to interview me bc “they were sure I was someone’s wife and they were ready to catch me with the right one”… pls I had to LAUGH😭
So because of reasons, two of them being work and my thesis—which has been going painstakingly slowly and even made me consider quitting altogether—I decided am going to slow down my posts.
Drawing and writing are what give me the most happy brain chemicals but I seriously need to make them more sparce because I feel myself getting burnt out with all the different shit I keep trying to tackle at the same time.
I’m not leaving this hellsite (affectionate), am still going to fave, reblog and text!
I hope this'll also encourage me to be better about interacting with content posted by my friends and other users I admire 👀💦
my birthday is on friday, and every year is another (more pressing) reminder that I’m “too old” to be doing something like hyperfixating on IZ. but I’m a stubborn bitch I guess lol
I feel so ethereal
