god what haven't I written... I definitely want to write more of those 'characters responding to a canon death' but I usually write that for ships. I need more platonic sadness. not every death needs a 'oh btw I loved you but also bye'

I was looking through old fics I haven't seen in years to see if I could find anything and honestly this bit is really funny

this one has to be the hardest prompt for me. in a fic I published somewhere I had a cat/bird motif I really liked and at the beginning there was the line
Yuuri was a kidnapper and Yuzu was the kidnapped. Does the cat ask the canary if the two of them are happy? Could they share emotion?
and at the near the end there was
Neither cat nor canary are free; they’re still owned by someone.
and I thought that was just a cool bit. the expression "the cat that swallowed the canary" still isn't a free animal. it's still owned only so free, even if it can catch a canary. idk, I'm bad at guessing what my readers like about my fic or don't appreciate enough about them
