Snow and its Multiple Personalities
Snow. It reflects everything.
Of the purest white on Earth, it reflects all color. There is a reason there is a color called “snow white”. Personally, I believe the princess should have been given a different name. She couldn’t possibly embody the color. The white is so pure it quickly blankets whatever is under it and makes it nearly impossible to know what lies beneath. Unfortunately, in all its pureness, it’s quickly tainted by any speck of dirt which causes spots to appear and ruin the mysticality.
The snow reflects all light, due to the billions of crystals embedded within a blanket on the ground. A spec of sunshine can be seen for miles above my its reflective personality. I feel the snow simply wants to say “hello” back to the Sun as its been so long since living in the sky. Reflecting without hesitation, it also often sparkles in the light; weather’s diamonds. Stealing the spotlight in fantasy, pure bright fantasy making way for a game with the sun to see just how long it will last.
Snow has multiple personalities it likes to juggle around. There is feather snow which lifts off the ground any time a breeze goes by and loves to dance with the wind. There’s fluff snow which is playful and moldable yet still crunches under your weight and begs for a snowball fight. There’s dense snow which is tougher to crack and even moreso to form, much more content to keep shape and sparkle in the Sun, now too lazy to do more than keep cold. With snow, quickly your hands grow cold from its contact as it itches to feel warmth again or perhaps to have its voice be heard.
Snow is quiet and prefers to silence the chaos around to favor the beautiful call of a bird or the rustle of the trees. Even the wind hears its plea as it is channeled over crystals and through snowfall - playing with the snowflakes. I implore you to find a quiet spot to listen to the wind through the snow. Hear the snow’s request for calm silence and the wind’s eerie answer, weaving through the swaying pine trees and over the blanketed rocks.
