Slavic paganism: Deities aren't first...?

A short post

This is going to be a short one. But i feel like it will help a lot of people understand this mysterious faith.

I've gotten so many questions regarding deity worship in slavic paganism across social media and with real life friends, which is absolutely okay, i love answering questions.

But the thing i always tell people is:

In Slavic paganism, deity worship is not the first priority.

Many medieval historians who wrote chronicles and books on Slavic pagan customs wrote about this.

Slavic paganism is a nature based religion. And while worshipping deities is always important, in slavic paganism there are many other aspects of non-deity related worship and veneration that we should know about.

Some of them being:

1. Ancestor veneration.

2. Nature (spirits) worship

3. House spirit worship (Domovoi and Kikimora the house spirits)

Another big thing in Slavic paganism is community. Of course, in this modern day world, community of friendly pagans is hard to find. Social media making it a bit easier.

But community doesn't always need to have same beliefs. I'm sure many non-slavic pagans (such as hellenic polytheists) would love to learn more about this faith. And so would many atheists and christians.

Of course, this is NOT to say that deity worship is not important. But this is some parallel that slavic paganism has with other pagan paths. People in modern day like to prioritize deity worship, as they believe that deities are more divine and powerful than nature spirits such as rusalki, vili (fairies), house spirits and mythical creatures.

But we gotta remember that ALL those beings are still divine. And while that one river spirit you've been talking to doesn't know as much as Perun does on the topic you want to learn, they still know much more than us.

Divine beings aren't omnipotent, but I'm sure they know a lot of things better than us, and know some things about us that that even our subconscious mind does.

A Slovenian Boy Dressed As "Green George" During Jurjevo Celebrations

In Slovenian tradition, Zeleni Jurij (Green George) is a figure associated with the spring festival of Jurjevo (St. George's Day). He is a symbol of awakening nature, abundance, and growth. Green George is often represented as a person dressed in green branches, who visits homes and brings good luck. He is also connected to the Slavic god Perun, the protector of livestock and horses. 

Part of the rituals of Jurjevo involve taking Green George being taken to a bridge, where he is symbolically killed (represented by plucking leaves from a tree) and then thrown into a river. This represents his return to the underworld, to be back in spring. The Green George ritual is a significant part of the cultural heritage of Slovenia, especially in the Bela Krajina region.

BANCO DE DADOS: A GUARDA DO INVERNO (ANTIGA GERAÇÃO)

Nunca apresentei formalmente a antiga Guarda do Inverno (a que veio antes da equipe atual, e a formação mais famosa deles, ou seja, a equipe que existe nos quadrinhos), então achei que seria legal fazer um post sobre eles, já que eu sei que eles não são uma equipe mega popular. Por enquanto vou dar apenas informações breves e introdutórias sobre eles, mas também vou fazer outro post falando sobre a equipe em si! Isso aqui é só pra apresentar os membros mesmo! Se quiserem saber mais sobre algum personagem específico, fiquem a vontade pra perguntar e Lembrando que vocês também podem perguntar sobre eles pra Jackie e os outros :) Enfim, vamos lá!

Antigamente, quando a equipe foi fundada, ela era formada por apenas 4 indivíduos, sendo eles o Vanguarda, a Darkstar, O Dínamo Escarlate e o Ursa Major, exatamente como a equipe da Jackie costumava ser lá no comecinho.

Mas em seu "auge", a antiga Guarda era liderada pelo Dínamo Escarlate e formada por 8 integrantes fixos. E eram eles:

VANGUARDA

Nome real: Nikolai Krylenko.

Raça: Mutante

Poderes: Manipulação de energia cinética.

Status atual: Vivo/aposentado.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Pai de Svetlana & tio de Lukyan (posteriormente, pai adotivo dele). Além disso, ele foi o idealizador e recrutador dessa nova equipe.

ESTRELA NEGRA (DARKSTAR)

Nome real: Laynia Petrovna (Krylova).

Raça: Mutante.

Poderes: Manipulação da força negra.

Status atual: Falecida

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Mãe de Lukyan e tia de Svetlana. Também serviu como inspiração para Nadya Rasputina.

DÍNAMO ESCARLATE

Nome real: Dimitri Bukharin

Raça: Humano

Poderes: Mestre estrategista. Combatente altamente treinado. Usa uma armadura semelhante a do Homem de Ferro.

Status atual: Aposentado.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Nenhuma além de que Mariya acabou roubando os projetos de sua armadura e a copiou para criar a que ela usa hoje.

URSA MAJOR

Nome real: Mikhail Ursus

Raça: Mutante

Poderes: Habilidade de se transformar em um urso gigante, mas ainda manter sua capacidade de fala e consciência.

Status atual: Preso.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Seu DNA foi usado como material genético para a criação de um clone, o Arkadiy.

PERUN

Nome real: Perun

Raça: Dieva (deus Eslavo das tempestades)

Poderes: Geração de raios e eletricidade. Controle e manipulação do clima.

Status atual: Morto.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Pai de Mariya.

CHERNOBOG

Nome real: Chernobog

Raça: Dieva (deus Eslavo do sangue e escuridão)

Poderes: Manipulação da força negra. Absorção de energia. Garras que podem ser alongadas e possessão.

Status atual: Morto.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Nenhuma.

VIÚVA VERMELHA

Nome real: Desconhecido

Raça: Acredita-se que ela seja uma humana modificada.

Poderes: Todos os poderes de um supersoldado.

Status atual: Desaparecida, presume-se que esteja morta.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Nenhuma além do fato de que Francesca acabou por adotar seu nome e seu uniforme, decidindo dar um novo significado ao que ela representava antigamente.

VOSTOK

Nome real: Anatoly (antigamente Sputnik)

Raça: Sintezóide

Poderes: Ele possuía poderes e habilidades muito semelhantes ao do Vingador conhecido como Visão.

Status atual: Desaparecido. A Guarda acredita que ele foi capturado e desmontado pelo governo.

Ligação com a Guarda atual: Nenhuma além do fato de que eles acreditam que Vostok está por aí e pode ser recuperado. Jackie e sua equipe estão concentrando seus esforços em trazê-lo de volta para a equipe.
