Petbarn has unveiled PetAI, a generative AI-powered assistant designed to help pet owners keep their furry friends healthy and happy.
Oh here we go.
Now I know, practically, that it’s going to become increasingly difficult to avoid AI products as time goes on.
And I understand that this AI chatbot is probably 95% geared towards recommending products to sell or converting enquires to vet appointments.
I get how it could be seen as a time saving advice fielding lots of non-urgent veterinary questions, because I used to be flooded with them when my ask box was open, and I assume this AI is trained on specific pet health articles. So it could certainly be worse.
But I hope like heck it doesn’t become a new ‘industry standard’. Independent clinics can’t manage a chat bot as well, and I don’t know how much I trust the information won’t become corrupted over time.
Still better than using generative AI for diagnostic purposes, but I’m not thrilled about it.
