Okay, so I know the big reason why everyone in 1795 looks like the 1967 characters is because they didn’t wanna hire all new actors and wanted to stick with the talent they already had. But I just had an in-universe theory as to why the characters look alike, even if they are not related.

Keep in mind, I am only on episode 485 and only know vague facts about Quinton and other characters.

The Theory I had:

The supernatural disturbances of the past have created echos of the people who once lived. These echos exist in the faces of people who live in the “present”. They are Doppelgangers. Not the same soul but the same appearance and presence.

Naomi looks like Elizabeth even though they’re not actually related. I think they look alike because Elizabeth is an echo of Naomi. She’s not the same soul, but they live in the same home/area. Anyone who spent any time in Collinsport gets “uploaded” as a possible repeat because Collinsport is such a hotbed for the supernatural and there has got to be side effects of it. The past is doomed to repeat so the faces are too.

Maggie looks like Josette while Julia looks like the Countess. But neither are related. However, Josette and her aunt both lived in Collinsport for a time. Therefore, they get repeated. Same goes for Jeremiah and Burke. All that Supernatural Energy that has existed since 1795 creates the Doppelgangers as a side effect. And it only happens in/around Collinsport. And those that exist outside are drawn to Collinsport, in one way or another. (i.e. Willie Loomis)

Barnabas is immune to being repeated because he hasn’t died yet. Only one echo per-person can exist at a time.
