On All of the Classics podcast, I interviewed Peter Gabel, the son of actor Martin Gabel and actress Arlene Francis.
Arlene may be best known now for her appearances as a panelist on the game show “What’s My Line”.
Although she made major strides for women hosting in television and game shows, she also acted in several TV shows, movies, and Broadway shows.
Also fun fact--first woman to ever host a late night show--The Tonight Show (before Joan Rivers even appeared on the Tonight Show)
On the podcast, we discuss more about Arlene and the influence she had on others lives.
Five colorized pictures of Arlene Francis, Martin Gabel, and Peter Gabel. (Run through this colorizer)
Four black and white Arlene Francis photos run through colorize-it.com. Also featuring Martin Gabel, Peter Gabel, Betty White, and Allen Ludden.
How have I missed this before now? The Gabel family is the greatest.

Happy Birthday Arlene Francis!! (Oct 20, 1907 - May 31, 2001)
"Arlene...doesn't get tired, doesn't get sick, doesn't seem to worry. She is a phenomenon of nature." - Martin Gabel
"My mother was a wonderful, loving woman who was able to communicate her warmth and vitality to millions of people as well as to my father and me.” - Peter Gabel
"You know, not a week goes by that someone doesn’t say to me or several people don’t say to me “is Arlene Francis really as nice as all that, can anybody be as nice as that?” The answer is no, not everybody could, but Arlene can.” - Tony Randall
“She’s one of the greatest human beings ever born, essentially a blithe spirit, warm, gay, kind, generous, thoughtful. She’s one of those rare people who lifts the spirit of anybody she comes in contact with.” - John Daly
“I have a glorious life...my husband is glorious, my son is glorious, my life is glorious.” - Arlene Francis
This piece of art made by Peter Gabel “Miniature Mermaid House” it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a while.
