On February 11, 1960, Jack Paar did something no television host had ever dared to do.
December 18, 1964: The Muppets appear on The Jack Paar Program and perform one of their signature sketches, "The Glow-Worm." This was the second of 10 times the sketch was performed.
The sketch was first performed in April 1961 on Sam and Friends, but video of that performance doesn't survive. Kermit appeared with a hand in the original version; in this iteration (and each subsequent appearance), Kermit was devoured by Big V.
A great footnote to this performance: the famous "Muppet Pipes" were created by Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Juhl and Don Sahlin between the dress rehearsal and the actual performance.
