Hammock
Rhodey had joined Peter and Tony up at the cabin that week. Peter had mentioned once that he was stressed over school, and immediately his over protective father had proposed they spend a few days in the mountains.
Peter had happily agreed, because honestly, he just wanted a break. And of course, he got to spend time with his adoptive father.
Often their days were full of hiking and swimming, Peter giving Tony heart attacks every two seconds and Rhodey watching Tony’s face drain of color.
But Tony had officially reserved the first day as “Rest Day,” for Peter to regain his hyper self and relax.
The boy had rolled his eyes, fully preparing to spend the day outside in the sun, ignoring Mr. Stark asking him to come inside because “You’ll get a sunburn, Pete, please just come inside.”
Yeah, nice try.
But as it turned out, he did more relaxing that he’d thought he would.
Because Peter had just discovered the wonderful pleasures of the hammock.

Tony jolted up with a shock from where he’d been reading, realizing he hadn’t heard from Peter in a long time.
Immediately his brain went into Overprotective Dad ModeTM. His mind began jumping to the worst conclusions, because Peter had absolutely no survival instincts. At all.
The man rushed outside, looking for a glimpse of a small figure wearing a red sweatshirt. “Peter?” he called loudly. “Pete, where are you?”
Nothing.
“Peter!!” he called, more urgently. “Where’d you go?”
And then he noticed the shape of a small figure in the hammock.
Laughing softly, he walked over and peered in.
Sure enough, Peter was fast asleep, buried in his own personal cocoon, his snoring almost like a soft purr.
His father almost cooed at the adorable sight.
He brushed the boy’s hair back from his forehead, love swelling in his chest.
“Oh, Petey.”
(And unbeknownst to the both of them, Rhodey was recording the entire endearing scene from the window.)
