TL;DR Version: The new Petite Filet Sandwiches from @Arbys are a little on the small side, but they taste great and they wouldn’t look out of place on the lunch menu of a nice restaurant. Full Review: Arby’s recently introduced a pair of steak sandwiches: the Garlic Butter Steak Sandwich and the Steak & Bacon Melt. I went to Arby’s immediately after seeing the commercial for the first time and tried the Garlic Butter Steak Sandwich. It’s petite filet, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and garlic butter on a ciabatta roll. My first thought was that the sandwich wasn’t very big relative to their usual fare, but it did look really good. It looks like a sandwich that you’d find on the lunch menu, served with a side of chips or fries, at a nice sit-down restaurant. It also tastes that way. The garlic butter flavor is subtle and the result is a sandwich that succeeds by relying upon the quality of its ingredients instead of gimmicks. I was going to leave it at that and not review the other sandwich, but Arby’s sent me a hilarious care package in the meantime so I went back for a Steak & Bacon Melt. And I’m glad I did because I think I prefer it to the first sandwich. The Steak & Bacon has petite filet, bacon, cheddar cheese, fried onion petals, and steakhouse ranch on a ciabatta roll. The onion petals add way more than I’d have expected and I quite enjoyed the steakhouse ranch too. Both sandwiches have solid macros, although weigh that against their smaller size. The Garlic Butter comes in at 520 calories, 24g fat, 42g carbs, and 33g protein. The Steak & Bacon Melt comes in at 640 calories, 32g fat, 48g carbs, and 38g protein.
