Petlyakov Pe-3. Soviet long range fighter that first flew in 1941
1943 Petlyakov Pe-4 (Pe-2 M82)
Small series variant of Pe-2, with powerful ASh-82F engines. Aircraft emerged as a result of designer's efforts to improve flight performance of the aircraft. The aircraft was developed in the event there was a lack of engine M-105PF (VK-105PF), which have been preferably fitted to the fighters. Formed therefore, the provisions for spare engines M-82. This modified aircraft was in the spring of 1943 tested by the air force and was planned serial production. In the meantime, the situation is reversed and while the engines M-105 was sufficient, the motors M-82 have become limited because they were used in the prototypes of the fighter aircraft such as the La-5 and La-7. It was therefore made in only 32 units, which in the years 1943 - 44 served in the 48. GvAP and in several special reconnaissance regiments.
