What’s so special about German plastic bottles??
When you buy a drink in a plastic bottle in Germany you pay a safety deposit of 25 cents which you will NOT get back if you crumple it up
it is deeply ingrained in the German mind that you do not toss or damage your Pfandflaschen (bottles with a safety deposit)
that's cash money
So when we see people in other countries where this system is not in place destroy their plastic bottles that can cause some of us to have kind of a visceral reaction before we remember it's okay
#neeeeeiiiiiiin! das Pfaaaaaaaaaand!#my Austrian friends can attest to Germans being weird about our bottles#this is just PET bottles btw reusable hard plastic bottles are 15c and glass bottles are 8c#cans are also 25c#certain non carbonated drinks like fruit juice are exempt from this but I dont know the exact rules (keep meaning to look it up but forget)#it may seem complicated to outsiders but we all grow up with this so it's second nature :)#and it's a great way to limit littering!#German stuff#Pfandsystem
