@the-laridian again, hello everyone!
I’m primarily a fabric artist, but I have returned to pencil sketching after a way-too-long hiatus. (protip: you will not, in fact, have more time after college, don’t let your art fall away when you enter the workforce. Would my younger self have listened? Who knows?)
It’s been tricky for me to get back into any kind of drawn art, because so many of you do such fantastic work, but I know the only way out is through. And it helped that I learned “references are not the enemy” - somehow that happened during my non-drawing years.
With that said: I’m really, really super proud of how this one came out, of my FNV OC, Gunnar Volk. The cane does play a part in his story, A Gun for Barns. I like to think this is for a formal portrait, if there’s a portrait artist somewhere in the Mojave.
