You awoke to the incessant ringing of your phone and you wondered who’s trying to ruin your attempt to sleep in on a Saturday morning. You checked your phone and it’s none other than your best friend, Park Junwon. You groaned as you read his messages because not only did he ruin your attempt to sleep in, he’s also trying to ruin your plan of staying in your bed all weekend long.
Y/N: No. Please choose another sacrifice to go shopping with you.
Junwon: You’re the only one who gives me honest opinions about my clothes :((
Y/N: You have other friends!! Why not take Seonghwa or Sungwoo? Those two dress well!
Junwon: Because!!
And your doorbell rang.
Y/N: Tell me you’re not outside my door!!
Junwon didn’t reply but instead rang your door again. You got up to let him in, not even bothering to fix yourself in the hopes that it’ll convince him to let you sleep some more.
He’s unfazed by your appearance and instead turned you around and pushed you by your shoulders to the direction of your bathroom.
“I’m not getting out of it, am I?” you asked, defeated.
“Nope!” Junwon declared.
Junwon had ordered in breakfast by the time you’re done showering. While eating breakfast, he told you that he has a wedding to attend in a few days and you’ll be helping him pick a suit.
You arrived at the tailor’s and you started looking around. You picked a few and you chose some odd ones, like a red felt one, and a dark green one with what looked like crocodile print on it just to tease him.
“Really?” he asked, as he eyed the suits you picked for him.
You shrugged, “You told me you needed a suit. You didn’t tell me any other specifics.”
Junwon rolled his eyes but took them with him inside the fitting room anyway. He started with your odd choices first just to show you how ridiculous they were. You both laughed and agreed that it might upstage the groom a bit but he could probably wear it for an awards show or some other event in the future.
He opened the curtain for the nth time, donning a black suit with a white dress shirt underneath and he asked you to choose between a necktie and a bow tie. Your jaw went slack at the sight of him all dressed up. There hasn’t really been any event until now that prompted him to wear a suit and you’re shocked at how well he cleaned up. You’ve been staring for a few seconds and it took you a while to answer his question.
“Hello?? Earth to Y/N??” he asked as he waved the ties in your face.
“Sorry, um bow tie,” you chose.
He faced the mirror to put the bow tie on then turned around to show you. “I think we’ve found a winner.”
“Try the dark blue one just to compare,” you suggested, not really for his benefit but yours as you’ve realized how much you like seeing him in a suit.
You both agreed that the black one is better and that was the suit he purchased.
You headed to a nearby restaurant for an early dinner and you asked him about the wedding.
“I actually introduced you to the couple a while back. I don’t know if you still remember,” he said and took out his phone to show you a picture of the couple.
“Oh I think I remember them!”
“Yeah so do you wanna go with me? They reserved me two seats so I can bring a plus one.” He slid the invitation towards you and pointed where it said two.
“I guess. It’s not like I have plans on that day. I get to play dress up with you,” you beamed.
Junwon laughed, not expecting you to be excited about dressing up. “Let’s go back to the tailor’s after dinner to get your dress.”
After dinner, you headed back to the shop to pick a dress that fit the wedding’s dress code. You chose a dress with a simple sillhouette that accentuated the curves of your body nicely.
Junwon dropped you home after dress shopping and you spent the rest of the evening looking for hair and makeup inspirations online.
On the day of the wedding, you woke up early so that you’ll have ample time to do your hair and makeup. You were putting on the finishing touches of your makeup when the doorbell rang.
“Are you ready?” he asked as soon as you opened the door.
“Just need to put my shoes on and we can go.”
You arrived at the wedding and it was magical. The venue was at a garden which was split in half, one side was where the ceremony was held and the other side was for the reception. The aisle was artfully littered with white petals and the seats were clear acrylic chairs and huge flower arrangements were placed on every other row. A miniature version of that flower arrangement was used as the centerpiece for the tables in the reception area. A string ensemble was present to play the music. You almost teared up during the ceremony despite only meeting the couple once.
Junwon introduced you to the couple again when he had the chance after the ceremony. They remembered that one time you met briefly and they told you they’ve heard about you a lot through his stories and that they were glad to have met you again and that you two looked good together.
While everyone was eating, the host suddenly asked Junwon to sing a song for the couple.
“I’m not prepared,” he reacted.
You turned to him and fixed his bowtie, made sure it wasn’t askew, and flicked off non-existing dust off his shoulders. “You’re gonna be fine,” you reassured him.
He squeezed your hand to thank you and he got up and went onstage. He sang 365&7 for the couple which had everyone bobbing their head to the beat. He congratulated the couple and wished them well after his performance.
He went back to his seat and a few more artists sang songs for the couple. The sun began to set and it was time to party.
Both of you were still seated and the couple, determined to have everyone dancing, pulled the two of you out of your chairs and ushered you to the dance floor.
You knew Junwon could dance and was even some sort of dance instructor in the past, and you started to bust out the moves he used to teach his students. He covered his face in embarrassment and started to move away from you but you pulled him back and told him they don’t even know about it. So the two of you danced to the songs using his old choreographies.
The DJ slowed down the songs which the other guests used to take a break from dancing. Mostly couples were left on the dance floor who slow danced to the music.
You wanted to take a break from dancing as well but Junwon gripped your hand, preventing you from leaving. You indulged him and you put one hand on his shoulder and the other held his hand, his free hand on your waist. You swayed together to the music and you rested your head on his chest.
“I don’t think I’ve told you yet how beautiful you look today,” he commented.
You felt your face heat up and were glad he couldn’t see it. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”
“Thanks for coming with me today.”
“You know I’ll always go with you. Even if it’s against my will.”
Junwon threw his head back as he laughed, knowing how true that statement was. “The same goes for me,” he confirmed, making you chuckle against his chest.
He rested his cheek against the crown of your head and added, “I’ll stick to you forever.”
You lifted your head and peered at him. “Ya Park Junwon what are you talking about.”
“We’re not just friends and you know it,” he stated.
You gulped after hearing his statement, unable to look him in the eye. You’ve confirmed that what you’re feeling towards him is mutual.
This gave you the courage to look back at him again. You moved your hand that was on his shoulder to caress his cheek. “I guess it wouldn’t be so bad to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.”
Junwon gave you a quick peck on the lips, aware that he was still at his friends’ wedding and did not want to steal their spotlight.
The suddenness of his actions electrified you. “I hope there’s more where that came from,” you teased.
Junwon winked back at you in response, the two of you suddenly eager to leave the wedding early.
summary: reader books tickets for them to attend the reader's favorite artist's concert; but harry does not enjoy the concert one bit.
notes: jealousy, fluff.
this is practically my first imagine, and it may be cringey. also i did not specify the artist performing, I'll leave that up to you :')
you woke up feeling giddy and excited. it will be a good day after all. you're going to (a/n) concert for the first time after being a fan for so many years. you've convinced your beloved boyfriend to come along as well, wanting to enjoy this important moment of your life with him. the concert is in a few hours, and you both agreed on having brunch before going to the concert hall. you dressed in an oversized white dress shirt with a beige cardigan over it, and black pleated pants.
as you sipped your macchiato, sitting on your kitchen stool, you heard the phone ring. you answered quickly, almost too quickly "come on out pretty lady, im waiting outside" harry said and you could feel his smile. you collect your things and make your way to his newly owned car, surprised that he still hasn't scratched it yet. he was leaning on the passengers door, looking like a huge fluff ball with his oversized black sweater and jeans. the glasses he was wearing added points to his cute look. his duality always surprised you, how could he look so cute but hot at the same time? you went up to him, giving him a kiss on his cheek, then embraced him in a warm hug. "i missed you" you said, "i've been away for only 13 hours and you miss me already?" harry said with a slight smirk looking down at you; as you were fairly shorter than him. "let's go?" he said as he opened the door for you "thank you, gentleman" you said with a smile "ofcourse, m'lady".
during the ride you put on songs that will be performed in the concert, feeling the rush of excitement rush through you. "you're that excited, huh?" harry said while glancing at you, grinning at the expression you're making: doe eyes, a wide smile, looking so adorable that he wanted to kiss you right there. you reach the concert venue, sighing at the long line of people waiting to check in. holding hands, you make your way to the end of the line. "let's see how great this artist is in live performances..." harry trailed off. he heard their songs numerous times, because you always put them on, feeling instantly happier. come to think of it, you listen to them more than to his music. harry involuntarily tightens his hold of your hand. you look at him "babe..? what's wrong?" harry comes back from the train of his thoughts and looks at you, "oh..sorry, i was lost in my thoughts for a second there" he tried to give you a small smile; but something was bothering him. you give him a funny look, deciding to let it go for now.
by the time you checked in and got to your seats, music videos were already playing on the big screen. everyone in the concert hall was singing along, including you. as you looked at harry, you noticed that he was in a daze. "ever since we've reached the venue, your mind has been somewhere else; did something happen?" harry turned to you, feeling slightly surprised "hm? nothing's wrong love, im just feeling a bit tired. maybe it's because of the heavy brunch we had earlier" he gave you a small smile. you did not buy what he said, so you cupped his cheeks and brought his face closer to you; "hmm what's wrong bub? did i do something?" harry ignored what you said, and closed the distance between you two, putting his hand on the side of your face, kissing you softly but with slight dominance. you kissed back, hands finding their way to the back of his hair, getting lost in the moment. after a few minutes, you both pulled away, catching your breath. you smiled at each other, looking deep into each other's eyes.
just then, fireworks were shooting into the air, signaling the start of the show. screams can be heard miles away from the hall. you were seated on the left side of the stage, in the ground seats, close enough to the stage to see the artist clearly. you were screaming the lyrics, jumping excitedly in your seat, having the time of your life. all this while, harry was staring at you, having not seen this side of you; wondering how many more he hasn't seen yet. he could see the artist glancing at you from time to time. and you would fangirl everytime it happened. "they're not even that good..." he mumbled. he was sulking at this point. he was jealous, very jealous of the artist on the stage right now. he was eager for the concert to end, for him to be the one to take you home, to confirm that you're his, and only his.
after set-lists of songs, encore stages, the concert came to an end. harry wanted to drag you out of there as fast as he can; but a person coming up to him stopped him. "miss?" you looked towards the source of the sound, "are you talking...to me?" the stranger replied with a yes and told you something that left you shocked. "(a/n) really liked your energy today, and wanted to thank you personally backstage." you could not believe what you heard. the stranger turns out to be his body-guard; as he led you to (a/n) room backstage. harry had come along, getting ready to pull out a few punches if the artist tried to make a move. you knocked on the door, and heard a voice from the inside telling you to come in. you stood there, in pure awe and admiration for the person standing infront of you. "i loved your performances today, you were amazing" they smiled and harry could've sworn he saw them smirk. "im y/n, and im a huge fan". the artist then replied "it's nice to meet you, y/n, and i'm glad you liked my performance today" he continued "you're really pretty, by the way". he was clearly smirking now. "thank you" was all that you said. all this time, harry felt invisible in the room, and kept glaring at them. "i think we clicked instantly, and I would like to take you out to lunch, maybe?" you looked at him, shocked. they then gave you their phone and continued, "if you could put in your number, i would love to talk about us in a calmer place, just the two of us". that's when harry lost it. he could not take any of it anymore, and he wanted to plunge at him for even daring to ask you out on a date. he was walking towards them until you spoke up. "im a huge fan of your music and your voice, but i never said that i was interested in you as a love interest. the fact that you ignored my man who's standing right beside me is rude enough, so for you to dare and ask me out on a date is over the top." you threw the phone on the sofa beside you, glared at him, and then took harry's hand in yours and made your way to the exit.
harry was driving you home and he could feel the tension in the air. "im sorry" he heard you say. he glanced at you, and you looked at him"i was not aware that this might be his intention, and you had to see all of that unfold before you. im sure you were hurt, i didn't mean for this to happen." tears well up in your eyes so you looked away from him, busying yourself with the outside view. he interlocked his free hand with yours, whispering reassuring phrases; "it's okay baby, i know you did not mean for this to happen, he was the jerk here, it's not your fault." you reached the apartment and as soon as harry opened the door for you and you got out, he pulled you into his arms. he held you tightly, rubbing small circles on the small of your back. that's when you couldn't hold back your tears any longer, and let it all out. you were so disappointed; the person you listened to for comfort was strikingly different than the person you met today. you were emotionally devastated.
after a while, you stopped crying but was still holding him close to you. harry pulled away, cupping your face while wiping strayed tears away with his thumb. he then kissed the top of your head, your nose, your cheeks, and looked at your lips. that's when you pulled him from the hem of his sweater, kissing him. the kiss was not like any other, no lust involved, just pure love and appreciation. you both pulled away, smiling. he rested his forehead on yours. "i love you...so much. i love you (y/n)." you couldn't contain your huge grin, giving him a kiss on his cheek, you said "i love you, harry."
harry intended to go back to his apartment, but you dragged him into yours for more cuddles and movies.
a/n: i don't know how to feel about this one, but i kinda like it c: i hope y'all like it ♡
Best friends. Those were the two words that trailed you and Harry for the past ten years. The problem was, this label was only half-true. Almost everyone around the two of you knew that Harry was madly in love with you. In fact, it seemed like you were the only one oblivious to this. But Harry continued to play his part of your best friend, sticking by your side under the delicate facade of a ten-year friendship. Until the day he just couldn’t play the part any more.
*
It all started with you and Minsik. There was a spark the moment Harry introduced the two of you to each other at a party. That entire night, Minsik couldn’t take his eyes off of you. And fortunately for him, the feeling was mutual.
You ended up crashing at Minsik’s studio that very night. The two of you left sloppy excuses to Harry and somehow managed to slip out of the party without Harry thinking too much of your coincidental disappearances.
You woke up the next day on the couch of Minsik’s studio. Upon realizing your whereabouts and seeing Minsik snoozing next to you, you felt….warm. And glowing. There was none of the shame or embarrassment that normally trailed you after a one-nighter. You listened to Minsik’s steady breathing, mentally tracing the features of his face with your eyes, as you waited for him to wake up. Sunlight spilled into the tiny windows of the studio and bathed Minsik’s tan skin a warm honey tinge. You held your breath at the sight. In that moment, you realized you would do anything to wake up to this again. You were completely infatuated.
*
“Let’s do this again sometime?”
Minsik grinned cheekily as he leaned against the door, nonchalantly tucking a piece of your hair behind your ears. You flushed profusely. You nodded as you met his eyes. Yeah. I would like that.
Friends with benefits. That was probably the best label to describe what you started with Minsik that day. Except somehow those words didn’t suffice in capturing your relationship with him. At least not for you. It had been almost a year since the fateful night you met Minsik, yet your heart pounded every time Minsik was near you. Every time you inhaled a whiff of his warm cologne. Every time Minsik caressed your body.
Sik-k is such a playboy. You had heard Harry shake his head countless times as he relayed to you how Minsik boasted of his most recent rendezvous with girls he met at the club. And every time, you simultaneously felt a pang of guilt and pain - guilt that you were, unbeknownst to Harry, one of those girls Minsik often bragged about, and pain that you were just one of those girls. You knew this was how Minsik was. Yet you were completely smitten with him, although you let yourself deny these feelings, as you knew Minsik didn’t view you in that way. He enjoyed your company at night, but it never went beyond that.
As the relationship progressed, the two of you had come up with clever ways to sneak around Minsik’s studio and avoid the nosy members of AOMG and h1ghr music. Especially to avoid Harry. You were afraid of how Harry would react when he found out that his best friend was sleeping around with one of his label mates. Knowing Harry and how overprotective he was of you, you knew it wouldn’t be a pretty scene. You already felt bad enough declining Harry’s numerous invitations to hang out at his studio and instead choosing to crash at Minsik’s. Harry sensed something was off with you lately, but little did he know that it was because you were spending most of your time right next door at Minsik’s studio.
Minsik would always text you with instructions when he wanted to have you over. And you would happily oblige. Sometimes it would be for you to wait until everyone else left the studio. Other times, you would hide under the desk or behind the couch, shielding yourself from the view of whoever abruptly walked into the studio.
“Why can’t we do this somewhere else?”
You absent-mindedly asked Minsik once as the two of you were laying on the sofa. Actually, sandwiched on the sofa would’ve been a better description, as the sofa was barely big enough to fit one person.
“Babe,” Minsik dawdled, as he rubbed circles on your back.
“You know why we can’t”.
Minsik flashed a smile - the same cheeky grin that captivated you and made you keep coming back to him. His words stung. You knew why. Minsik only brought his girlfriend back to his apartment. Only the ones that actually deserved to visit his private space. And you had to admit, meeting at his studio was more of an inconvenience, but it didn’t solicit the need for Minsik to bring you to his place. In fact, there was only one occasion in which the two of you almost had your cover blown. Harry had walked in just minutes after Minsik had, quite literally, torn your clothes off, and you were barely able to hide in time under Minsik’s desk.
“Jeez, Minsik, you gotta stop bringing girls to the studio or have a sign on your door or something”
Harry muttered as he saw the scattered pieces of clothing on the floor that you didn’t quite have time to hide.
Minsik grinned sheepishly as he shooed his hyung out of his studio. And that was the end of it.
But this time was different. Maybe the two of you had gotten too confident with sneaking around Minsik’s studio. Or maybe the music in his studio was turned up a little too high that day to hear Harry’s footsteps approaching the door.
“Y/N?”
In what happened to be the most terrible timing, you peeked your head over the couch and met eyes with Harry the moment he stepped into the studio. You saw Harry’s eyes visibly widen in shock and how seconds later, his face creased into a look of …pain? anger?
“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me…”
Harry clenched his jaw when he saw Minsik’s half-nude body plastered underneath yours.
“H..hyung..”
“Harry!”
As Minsik scrambled onto his feet, you hurriedly pulled a t-shirt over yourself, following Harry out the studio.
“Harry, wait up!”
Harry refused to slow his pace as he left the building, letting the doors slam to a close behind him. You were eventually able to find him tucked away under some trees near the building.
“Harry."
“What do you want, Y/N?”
Harry retorted angrily. His eyes were red, and his breath was unsteady. You were startled at how visibly shaken he was.
“Harry… what’s wrong?”
You had a gut feeling that there was something more that was going on. Or maybe it was your past ten years of knowing Harry that nudged at you, hinting that something was wrong. You expected Harry to overreact when he eventually found out about you and Minsik, but his current reaction far exceeded what you had anticipated.
“Why him, Y/N? Out of all the fucking guys out there…”
Harry turned to face you, his face a splotchy mess of pain and frustration.
“What’s wrong with Minsik? Why does it matter so much to you?”
You winced at how pointed and cold your question came out. But you were genuinely curious. It had been ten years of this - you dating or hooking up with someone that Harry deemed was unfit, prompting you to eventually end things with the other person. He made you feel like his younger sister, someone who constantly needed protection when you knew how to fend for yourself. You knew what you were doing with Minsik. You knew what you were getting yourself into, or at least that’s what you convinced yourself to believe.
“Because I like you, Y/N.”
Harry sighed. He knew that once those words left his lips, his friendship with you would never be the same again. There were so many instances over the past ten years where he dreamed about reciting these words to you. And he remembered how every time he had to bite his tongue and swallow his words, as he knew you wouldn’t feel the same way. But he was tired of pretending to be your platonic best friend, watching every relationship of yours run its course when he knew, in his mind, that he could treat you better.
I like you. The words rang in your head, but before you even had time to grasp what Harry had just said, he walked away from you. You knew there was no point in chasing after him again. You would need time to process everything - time to rethink everything about your friendship that you took for granted. And you could only hope that when you were ready to face him again, he would be waiting by your side, ready to listen to what you had to say, just like he had all these years.
this was truly one HOT mess & thank you to those who reached this point LOL i edited this again & again over a course of 4 days, but i’m still v unhappy with how it turned out. this was such a whirlwind of emotions, and such a mish-mash of everything you could ever find in a love triangle. but yeah, that’s it. no part 2. i am wiping myself clean of this awful scenario LOL
synopsis → your son wakes you up at 4 in the morning and shares his odd choice of a first word in which he learned from the both of you.
word count → 0.5k.
a/n → is this extremely short ?? absolutely. i really suck at writing fluff.
“Junwon~! (Son’s Name) is crying. Go check on him. It’s your turn anyway,” You whined, covering your head with one of the many pillows of your shared bed.
Junwon huffed, opening his eyes and throwing the duvet off of him and stumbling out of bed and sluggishly walking across out of the room and across the hall to a blue nursery.
The both of you were very new parents. Your son, S/N, had just turned 10 months old just a few weeks ago. Though you were very new parents, you’ve known Junwon since you were kids. He was your childhood friend and enemy, frenemy.
Your relationship was, to say this least, complicated. For years and years your relationship with Junwon consisted of you hated him but also needing him sometimes and vice versa. But somewhere near your high school days, something had changed in the both of you. Junwon had fallen for you, and you had fallen for him.
After an accidental confession, the two of you began dating. After 4 years of dating, the two of you had gotten married. You had followed him to Korea for him to follow his music dream. You took up a job as an English school teacher at a primary school.
You were proud of him for living his dream. All you wanted was for him to be happy. It always made you happy to see him smiling.
Sometime after, you discovered that you were pregnant. The both of you were extremely happy about your first child. Nine months later, your healthy baby boy was born.
You loved your son more than anything, as did Junwon. But damn did he cry a lot. S/N was a crier. Almost ten times a day, crying from the moment he wakes up in the morning until the moment he sleeps. No one wanted to hear crying at 4 in the morning.
Junwon stumbled into S/N’s dark room, tripping over a small toy. He quickly kicked the toy away, holding onto the bottom of his foot, “Damnit!”
“Damnit!”
He froze hearing a small voice repeat his words. It had hit him S/N had stopped crying and now stood up in his crib, staring at his father with a smile. His tiny hands gripping tightly onto the sides, mouth agape.
“S/N, did you...did you just say your...first word?” Junwon questioned, lowering his foot back to the floor.
S/N giggled, repeating himself, “Damnit!”
Junwon gasped, hearing your voice from down across the hall, back in your shared room, “Junwon? Is S/N okay?”
“He’s just fine. He may or may not have said his first word...”
Your eyes shot up, as you jumped out of bed, rushing to the room, stepping on the same toy that Junwon did a few minutes ago. You let out a pained grunt, cursing a lot, “GOD DAMNIT!”
“Damnit!”
Your head snaps to your son who has a devilish look in his eyes with a smile as bright as the sun. “S/N, don’t say that. That’s a bad word.”
“I think he likes watching us get hurt,” Junwon pointed out with a chuckle.
You sighed, picking S/N up and placing him on your hip, “Great, my baby is a sadist. He’s not even a year old yet! I can’t believe his first word was a curse word.”
“Well you do have quite the colorful choice of words,” Junwon teased.
You growled, pointing at him, “You said damnit first! It’s 4 in the morning! I do not need this. I have work in a few hours. Fuck!”
“FUCK!”
“S/N, no!”
Junwon didn’t know why he liked you so much – okay, that was a lie. He did know why. He had liked you from the day you’d first met, and the list of whys was endless.
Unlike his quiet and reserved self, you were wild and loud. You took command of any room without trying while he had to fight to be noticed. You contrasted one another vastly, so much so that you were almost the complete opposites, and yet his heart still managed to pound every time you were near.
Sitting on the hard-wood floor of the studio, Junwon watched you run through the choreography for his latest song, counting out the steps as the rest of the dance-troop tried to keep up with you.
He was out of breath and queasy after having spent a majority of the day learning your choreography. It didn’t help that he wasn’t in his best condition. Your eyes met his in the reflection of the mirror, narrowing immediately as you stepped out of the formation to approach him.
All afternoon you two had thrown low comments at one another – you’d dragged him in to learn his choreo when he was meant to be resting at home, recovering from a sudden cold. If it had been anyone else, he would have told them to leave him alone, but it was you and he found it hard to say no despite his health.
‘Yah, Park Junwon,’ you chide, wiping the sweat from your brow, ‘Are you slacking off right now?’
‘I’m tired,’ Junwon defends to which you responded with a light kick to his leg.
‘We’re all tired!’
Even as you kicked him, he couldn’t help but feel the butterflies in his stomach – well now that he thought of it, the churning could have been because he was unwell.
Frenemies – that was the label everyone had put your relationship under, thanks to your constant bickering and arguing. It was rare for you two to be in the same room without throwing snide comments at one another. Most people would have found Junwon’s enjoyment in your low-digs sadistic, but to him it meant that you noticed him despite his shy trait.
‘One more minute,’ Junwon begs, his hand resting on the calf of your leg that you’d positioned strategically as if waiting for the chance to kick him, ‘One more minute then I’ll keep going.’
You looked down at him as he run a hand through his hair, his cheeks slightly sunken from having skipped meals due to the stress of his job. He did look tired – not just physically but mentally as well.
Crouching, you grabbed at his chin and turned his face to look at you, your eyes scanning him worriedly, ‘Yah, Junwon...Are you okay? Are you sick?’
‘Idiot, I told you that I wasn’t feeling well when you showed up at my apartment,’ he tells you with an eye-roll, pulling his face away from your touch, his cheeks glowing red. He should have been used to your touch after you two hitting each other so often, but it was rare for you to be this gentle; so rare that it left him blushing like a school-girl.
All joking aside, you worriedly pulled his face back, trapped between your palms as you moved closer, noting his blood-shot eyes and his grayish skin tone, ‘I thought you were just trying to get out of learning the choreo,’ you admit guiltily as you checked his temperature.
‘I’m fine, Y/N,’ Junwon tells you as he pulls away for the second time, embarrassed. You straightened yourself and offered your hand for him to take which he ignored.
Opting to stand on his own, Junwon was half-standing when he was hit with a dizzy spell, falling into you as he lost his step.
‘Yah!’ you yelled in panic as you managed to catch him before he hit the ground.
‘I’m okay,’ Junwon tell you softly as you helped him to stand straight, your arm secure around his waist as you held on to him, worried he’d drop at any second.
‘You’re clearly not,’ you argue, pulling his arm around the back of your neck so that you could better support him, ‘Come on, you need to rest.’
He whined in response though was quickly cut off by you telling your team that practice was over for today and that you’d re-group tomorrow.
Embarrassed of you seeing him look so pathetic, Junwon attempted to unwind himself from you but froze when you entwined your fingers with his hand, forcing him to your side.
‘I’m fine,’ he tries again, conscious of just how close you were, ‘I can walk on my own!’
‘Shut up,’ you say with an eye-roll as you navigated your way through the HQ hallways and towards the sick-bay, ‘Why does everything have to be a fight with you?’
‘You can talk,’ he responds before squeezing his eyes shut with annoyance knowing he’d just proven your statement to be 200% true.
Closing the door after entering the room, you attempted to settle Junwon gently down on the bed though failed epically as he flopped onto the mattress, letting out a curse as he went.
‘Sorry,’ you apologize as you helped him to get comfortable, tucking a pillow under his head as you commanded, ‘Stay here, I’ll be right back.’
Junwon did as you asked, though he sat up and attempted to blink away the black spots that were appearing more and more every time he did so. It was official – he’d over-done it and now he was going to die in front of the woman he’d been crushing on for months.
‘Ah, so embarrassing,’ he tells himself with a shake of his head, ‘What loser almost faints from standing up too fast?’
‘One that doesn’t take his health seriously,’ you say as you re-enter the room, an energy bar and a large bottle of water in your hands, ‘If you were this sick, you should have told me that you couldn’t train, Junwon!’
‘You dragged me out of my apartment!’
You glared at him as you handed him a bottle of water and painkillers that you’d found in the cupboard among other medicines, ‘You said you had a headache, not that you were going through cold symptoms and had been ordered to stay home! Jay nearly bit my head off out there!’
‘He was mad with you? I should go speak—,’ Junwon starts though you cut him off by dabbing at his face with a cloth, attempting to wipe away his sweat while he drank from the bottle.
‘Leave it, it’s my fault,’ you tell him as you finishing cleaning his face, your eyes narrowed in concentration. You were inches away from him and he could feel his heart begin to race. He wandered if you could hear it pounding; if you knew that that was what you did to him.
Without thinking, Junwon’s hand gently grabbed at your outstretched wrist, your eyes widening at the contact before meeting his gaze, ‘What are you doing?’
Junwon placed your hand above his heart and kept it there; ‘I think there’s something wrong with my chest,’ he tells you quietly as you turned your gaze down to your hands, the erratic heartbeat vibrating through your palm. Junwon swallowed and prepared himself to carry out the rest of his confession. He was meant to say, ‘it only beats like this when you’re around,’ but was beaten by your gasp.
‘Are you okay?’ you ask worried, your eyes wide and unable to look away from your joined hands, ‘Shit, I think I should take you to a doctor!’
Junwon snorted at your ruining of the romantic moment he’d tried to build, ‘You idiot, forget it.’
‘You’re the idiot,’ you retort, your hand still on his chest though he’d long let go of your wrist, ‘Why’d you even come to the studio with me Junwon! You’ve probably made your cold five times worse than what it was!’
Junwon smiled as you busied yourself, watching you move around the room with confidence. It was clear that you were familiar with this place though it was his first time using it personally. He wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t the first person to pass out after your grueling sessions.
As you wrung the cloth out at the sink in the corner of the room, he answered honestly, ‘You asked me to come. How could I refuse?’
You scoffed in response as you pushed him back so that he was laying once more, laying the cloth across his forehead carefully.
He let you nurse him, watching as you unwrapped the energy bar and offered it to him, ‘Eat this and drink more water. If you’re dehydrated it’ll make your cold even worse.’
Junwon listened, shifting slightly so that you could sit on the edge of the bed, still fussing over how pale he looked. Even with the amount of bickering and fighting, it was clear that you cared – it was the first time Junwon had ever realized it.
Junwon washed the bar down with water and went as far as to open his mouth to show you he’d eaten it. You nodded, satisfied that he’d listened without putting up too much of a fight.
After a moment of silence, you sighed and reluctantly shifted away from him, readying yourself to leave, ‘I should probably go...You need to rest.’
‘Stay.’
You looked at him over your shoulder; his forehead covered with an orange cloth, and his skin slick with a mixture of cold-sweats and water that showed you hadn’t wrung the cloth properly. He looked a hot mess, but that didn’t stop you from slowly nodding in agreement, ‘O-kay.’
Junwon shifted so that he was pressed against the wall and pet the space beside him on the bed. You sighed but lowered yourself beside him, the two of you staring up at the ceiling in silence.
It was Junwon who broke the peace by confessing, ‘I like you.’
He was bursting with confidence tonight and you put it down to his symptoms.
Your head rolled to look at Junwon who was still staring at the ceiling, avoiding your wide-eyed gaze though he could feel it burning on his face. You’d never thought you’d hear those words leave his mouth, so much so that you almost doubted you’d heard him right.
‘It’s true,’ he says quietly, ‘I’ve liked you for a long time,’ he confesses, ‘I just...thought I’d tell you that.’
Unable to respond, still in shock and slight denial of these happenings, you remained quiet, trying to process it all; ‘Say something,’ Junwon begs, turning his head to look at you.
‘Thank you,’ you blurt out before cringing, squeezing your eyes tight as if that would help you to disappear. Thank you? Wow, you really were an idiot.
‘Uh,’ Junwon swallowed with uncertainty, ‘You’re welcome?’
You could hear it in his tone that he was disappointed – what man wouldn’t be? But your mind was still wheeling from his confession. He liked you? Why? You were as happy as you were confused; who wouldn’t be happy, knowing that their crush liked them back? But he’d never given you any signs of liking you before - you two fought more than you actually ever talked, though admittedly, you found that part of your strange relationship the most endearing.
Despite his innocent aura, he definitely knew how to get on your nerves, so much so that it had practically become a game between you both.
You were lost in your thoughts; you’d always accepted that that was just how it would always be between you two – fun, games and unrequited love.
The shifting of the bed brought you back from your thoughts. Junwon was sitting up and attempting to escape your presence by shuffling himself towards the end of the bed.
You reacted immediately, sitting up to wrap your arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a back hug that had him stiffen at your touch, ‘Where are you going?’
Junwon didn’t want to answer because he knew you would hear the disappointment – and the embarrassment – in his tone. Instead he hung his head and rested his hand on your clasped ones.
Resting your chin on his shoulder and your embrace tightening, you murmur, ‘I like you too, Junwon.’
‘You don’t have to lie to make me feel better,’ he tells you quietly.
You responded by flicking his ear and causing him to hiss at the pain, ‘Yah, why would I waste my time lying about this?’
‘You didn’t have to hit me!’
‘Don’t be such a baby!’ you retort, though you gently rubbed at the ear you’d just flicked to soothe it, apologetic.
Junwon shifted, still in your arms and beamed, ‘You like me?’
‘Don’t smile like that, you’re sweaty and gross right now,’ you tell him, suddenly shy as he smiled happily.
You released him a second later and fell back on to the bed, your stomach knotted with nerves. You were so used to his scowls that you hadn’t been prepared for a killer smile like that.
Junwon quickly followed, laying down comfortably before forcing you to turn, pulling your arm around his waist; ‘You’re sly,’ you tell him with an eye-roll but settled into the new position, ignoring his grin that refused to falter.
‘I’ve been waiting for this for months,’ he tells you as he engulfs you with his own hug, ‘So bare with me. The closest we’ve ever gotten like this is when you wrestled me over a pair of sponsored sunglasses.’
‘You didn’t need that second pair,’ you tell him with a huff to which he chuckled.
‘I gave them to you anyway,’ he reminds you, his lips at your forehead, ‘Remember?’
Rolling your eyes in response, you sighed and settled in, ‘You were meant to be resting, not starting a relationship.’
‘It’s not my fault my nurse was so pretty.’
‘I smell like sweat and my hair is a mess.’
‘Yeah,’ Junwon agrees, taking in your dance get-up that you were wearing for practice, ‘You’re right.’
You slapped at his arm causing him to laugh and embrace you tighter his face nuzzling against yours as he kept you from squirming away; ‘No hitting!’
‘No kissing!’ you tell him as he pecked at your lips lightly, sneaking another kiss as soon as you settled down, ‘You’re sick!’
He laughed loudly and kissed your lips again though this time you were ready, responding to it with a gentleness that Junwon couldn’t have imagined you possessed. Pulling away seconds later, Junwon pressed his forehead to yours and grins happily, ‘I’m glad I almost fainted. The embarrassment was worth gaining you as my girlfriend.’
‘Girlfriend? Says who?’ you question teasingly while he sucked in air between his teeth as if chastising you.
‘No arguments! Only kisses!’ he says before adding, ‘...Girlfriend.’
You snorted, hiding the smile on your lips as you answered, ‘Okay. Whatever. Boyfriend.’
4 months ago, 6 universities decided to do a big event that showcased the student’s art works, fashion shows, music, food, dance and many more. It was an open invite, not just for the students of the 6 universities, but it was for anyone that was aged 18 and over. It was a 6-day event and it required anyone that attended, had to city hop, as every city had a different fixed event. Day 6 was the last day. It was a day specifically made for music and Harry was invited to be a performer at the concert. While performing, a girl caught his eyes and that girl happened to be Kimberly. She was watching him closely while he performed, her look was interesting. Interesting enough to make Harry chase her and ask for her number. Which is weird, considering that Harry had turned down all the hottest girls of his home city. Kimberly lives 4 hours away from Harry’s university but from his home city, its further as it is 8hrs away from each other meaning that they have a long-distance relationship.
~Present time~
- “Where the heck is Y/N? its been two days since I last saw her.” Harry says while looking for Y/N around his shared apartment, confused.
- “Why are you so worried about her? She’s grown. I’m she can find her way around. She’s probably at home or something. Who knows” Kimberly says unbothered, while filing texting someone on her phone.
- “Why are you so nonchalant about this? It doesn’t matter if she is “grown” or not, she should have at least called me. What if something went wrong? What if she’s lost? We never even got to see her leave.”
- “I’m sure she’s fine babe. So, can you stop talking about her? Can you at least pay attention to me for today? I leave in 2 hours” Kimberley says while being irritated.
- “I pay attention to you all the time. What are you taking about? How do you want me to act when my best friend is missing?” Harry says, angrily.
- “You know what? I don’t want to have this conversation anymore. I’m going out for a walk. Bye”. She walks out the apartment and slams the door behind her.
- “This girl is fucking crazy.” Harry says to himself as he shakes his head.
*Buzz…..buzz*
Harry stops what he was doing. He looks around and notices that Its Kimberley’s phone. She must have forgotten to take it with her. He walks towards the phone and picks it up, it’s a message. He opens the chat and witnessed things that he never thought he would.
He scrolled through the messages between Kimberley and Jason, and it seems that their relationship is serious. They have been in an on and off relationship for two years and has even met his parents and friends. She was playing both of them, as Jason knows nothing about Harry. He had also looked through messages of her and her best friend Leah and noticed that she told her friend that she doesn’t really like Harry but is only with him because he has clout and potential to become a big rapper and when she does become a bigger rapper, she will then learn to love him. Not to mention, she is also the reason why he can’t get a hold of Y/N. Furious, Harry’s face goes red as he throws Kimberley’s phone on the bed. He storms into the shared living room space and sits on the sofa and impatiently waiting for Kimberley to come back while unblocking Y/N on social media and messaging his mother for Y/N’s number. When Kimberley opened the door, she could sense that there was something wrong with Harry.
- “What’s up with you? Why are you angry?” She says with her eyebrows raised.
- “Why am I angry? Why do you think that I’m angry?”
- “Oh Gosh, are you still angry because of what I said earlier? Because of me wanting attention from you?” she chuckles and says “Get over it” as she aggressively pushes Harry out of the way.
- “Kimberley. Never in your life put your hands on me. Ever.”
- “And what are you going to do if I don’t want to?”
- “Get out. I’ve had enough.” Harry says, whilst trying to calm himself.
- “No, why should I?” she says defensively.
- “Who is Jason? Who is Jason, huh?”
- “What are you talking about? You’re so annoying.”
- “Why do you hate Y/N so much? What did she ever do to you? Why did you want to slap my friend?”
- “Is that what that bitch told you? That makes no sense” Kimberley says, as she is starting to sweat.
- “I beg your pardon. Bitch? Don’t call her that. Y/N didn’t tell me anything. You know why? Its because you blocked her from all my socials and deleted her number from my phone.”
- “WHAT? I would never! Stop accusing me of shit that I haven’t done and stop talking about this Jason or whatever. You sound crazy” Kimberley says as she acts surprised that he has found out about blocking Y/N on social media.
- “You would never? Okay, cool. Sit down and stay here for a bit, I’ll be right back”
Harry then goes into his room and takes Kimberly’s phone. He then comes back and takes his phone out of his pocket and starts dialling a number. Kimberley was just sat on the sofa, looking very confused and scared, as she didn’t know what was going on and who he is trying to call. Y/N finally picks up the phone and Harry puts her on speaker.
- “Hello?” Y/N says.
Kimberly’s eyes widened. Harry is making small talk with Y/N before he gets right into the main reason that he called.
- “Is it true that Kim purposely made you sit away from us at the theatres?” He asked.
- “Yeah, wasn’t it obvious Harry?” Y/N laughs nervously.
- “Oh wow” Harry says, with a lot of regret as he puts his hand on his head.
- “I didn’t know how to say this to you at all, but Kimberley didn’t like me from the get-go. It was almost like I did something to her. I tried my best to be nice to her because she is your girlfriend, but she just didn’t care to be nice to me at all.”
- “Wow” He says while being disappointed in himself.
- “Oh, if I’ve said anything offensive, I’m honestly so sorry. I mean, she is your girlfriend after all. I hope what I have said isn’t going to offend the both of you and negatively impact your relationship” Y/N says, nervously.
- “So, she really did try to slap you, huh? She tried to lay hands on you, didn’t she?” He sighs, defeated.
- “Wait. How-who told you this?”
- “Kimberley left her phone at home while she went out for a walk and her phone buzzed so I went through her message thinking that it might have been her mom or some sort of emergency, but it turned out that it was a message from her best friend. She admitted to trying to slap you. She was also messaging her boyfriend of two years, Jason. Saying how much she misses him and that she can’t wait to go back home. Right Kimberley?” Harry says as he looks at her with fire in his eyes.
- “Omg, Is Kimberley there? Harry I’m so sorry. I don’t even know what to say.”
- “No, don’t be. I should be the one apologising to you because of your experience here. A best friend should never act the way that I acted towards you. Y/N I am so sorry and Kimberley, its over. So, get out of my sight.”
All Y/N could say through the phone was “OMG” because she could hear Kimberley crying and Harry’s voice wavering while kicking Kimberley out of his apartment and Kimberley saying no to Harry kicking her out.
- “Fine. Since you don’t want to leave, I will. When I come back, you better not be here, or I will call your boyfriend Jason to drag you out of here.”
- “HARRY WHERE ARE YOU GOING? YOU BETTER NOT GO TO THAT BITCH!” Kimberley shouts while crying.
- “I told you to never call her a bitch, ever. Leave before I come back.” Harry says as he packs his bag.
- “No, PH-1, don’t go. Just stay here. I’ll break it off with Jason then. Huh? Babe, please listen to me. I love you” Kimberley desperately says.
Harry then looks at Kimberley one last time as she was pleading for Harry to stay with her. She had tears and mascara running down on her face, snot was dripping from her nose. She was a mess. He shook his head and slammed the door behind him. After he slammed the door, he could hear Kimberly scream-shouting and what seems like her throwing her things in the apartment.
- “Harry. Harry, you forgot to hang up. Where are you even going at this time? Are you okay? is Kimberley okay?” Y/N says with worry in her voice.
- “I don’t care about her anymore. I’m coming.” He says while panting.
- “Coming where Harry? You’re worrying me” She says confused.
- “I’m coming home. I’m going to moms house.”
- “Harry no, its too late. Just go a friend’s house or a nearby hotel. I don’t want you doing long drives while you’re angry. It’s dangerous.”
- “Its okay, I promise I’ll be fine. Ill message you when I get home”
~ 2 hours later~
As soon as Y/N opened the door, Harry handed her a box of chocolates and an “I’m sorry” card and then pulls her into a hug. Out of shock, Y/N accidently drops her card and her chocolates.
“Y/N listen. I’m so, so, so sorry for acting the way that I have. A true friend would never ignore their best friend or put them what I put you through. I really hope that you forgive me. If you don’t, I’ll still be fine with it. I was a jerk after all. I won’t pressure you into forgiving me, so I’ll let you go back to bed. Goodnight”
He then pulls away from the hug, crosses the road and goes to his mom’s house. Y/N was speechless from everything that she had witnessed. As soon as Harry got let into his moms house, she picked up her card and chocolates from the floor and then went back into her house.
Back home before Harry left for university, Harry and I would always go to the theatres to watch movies. He bought tickets for us to watch “Bad boys for life” at 4:30pm but its 4pm and Kimberly is still at Harry’s house. I wouldn’t mind her being here and going to the movies with us if she was at least nice to me, but she isn’t. When me and harry would talk to each other, she makes sure that the conversation shifts to her, its like she really doesn’t want me to be here and it’s making me feel uncomfortable. I just wish that Harry could see that. Time is up and we decide to leave for the movies. Harry offered to drive us in his car, but I insist to drive instead because I knew Kimberley was going to be making remarks like “the girlfriend should always sit in the passenger seat, next to her boyfriend” and quite frankly, I didn’t want to hear it. As soon as she looks at my car, she already had something to say.
- “So, this is the car that you want us to ride in? Jesus Christ, we should have just called an Uber” she torts out loud and obnoxiously
- “Why don’t we ride in your car then, since mine isn’t good enough for you.” I defend myself and my car.
- “Y/N, Kimberley doesn’t have a car. She doesn’t even have a license yet” Harry says silently as he nudges me to be quiet.
I laugh silently when I heard that. My car has 5 doors and 4 wheels and its not a crappy car so what’s the matter with that? Even if it was a crappy car, it does what it needs to do and takes me to places so what’s the issue? I unlock my car and I get in. Just when harry is about to open the door to sit in the passenger seat, Kimberly rushes to harry and pulls him to the back so that they could sit together. I know I said this already but I’m really Harry’s uber driver, aren’t I? first I deliver his food, and now this? Laughable. We get to the movies and Kimberley begs harry to buy her a ticket. Finally, we get into the theatre and I was thinking that because me and Kimberley don’t know each other AND she just hates me off rip, it would be sensible for Harry to sit in between us but nope, Kimberley decided to let a group of four find seats before her and Harry. While all of this was happening, I thought that both Harry and Kimberley were behind me and because of that, I end up sitting by myself and have 5 strangers (including Kimberley) sit between me and harry. I didn’t even get to watch the movie properly because all I could think about was the fun me and Harry could have had. I even started to question why I even took time off from work to come here.
A few hours later, the movie ended. Harry planned that we go bowling and to a pizza place, but Kimberley didn’t want to do that. She had other plans instead, so we went back home. Harry and started to feel very hungry and so we went into the fridge and took out the food that auntie made. Harry happened to have ingredients that should be eaten with the side dishes that his mother made, so he asked Kimberley if she could wash and make the rice while he fried eggs and peeled some potatoes.
- “I’m not your maid for you to be asking me to wash the rice. Do it yourself.” she says while folding her arms with a ferocious expression spread across her face.
- “Kim, just help me this once. I’m already peeling potatoes and will fry the rice. Please? We’re all going to eat this anyway, so you might as well help. Plus, its quicker too.” Harry conveys to Kimberley.
- “I don’t want to eat whatever this atrocious food is. It smells horrible. Ew, is that seaweed? Yeah, I don’t like whatever this nonsense is. Who made this?” Kimberley viciously says while directly making eye contact with me.
While she is pretending to gag at the food, me and Harry make eye contact and just shake our heads. I decide to walk into the kitchen area where Harry was peeling potatoes.
- “I’ll help since I don’t want to wait too long for the food to be ready” I say with a smile.
- “Thanks Y/N. but you’re the guest. I wanted me and Kimberley to show off our cooking skills.” He says.
- “No worries. I’m just really hungry” I wash my hands and g straight to where the containers full of side dishes are and open it and put it in my mouth. “mmm, Harry. Your mom did a really good job at making these. This is delicious.” I then turn around and start washing the rice.
When Kimberley heard that, her eyes widened up. She looked like she messed up. No, she did mess up. She thought that I was the one that cooked for Harry, so she thought that it was okay for her to be rude. Childish.
Harry takes his phone out and makes a phone call. He orders a Pepperoni pizza. I already knew that the pizza wasn’t for me or him, we both hate pepperoni, so I knew he ordered it for Kimberley.
- “P, why are you ordering pizza?” Kimberley says, confused.
- “I ordered it for you, Kim. Since you don’t like my mom’s food, or Korean food.” Harry says with his head down, peeling the potatoes.
- “No, that’s not what I meant.” She says with an apologetic voice.
Harry slams the potato peeler on the counter and looks up at her. He’s angry.
- “then what did you mean?” he voiced, while being exasperated.
- “I meant to say-“
- “Oh, you meant to say that it’s because you don’t like my mom’s cooking? Said it because you don’t like Korean food, Korean culture or me being Korean? Or did you say it because you thought that Y/N cooked it?” Harry snaps with anger in his eyes.
- “ I didn’t-“ Kimberley says silently.
- “The pizza is coming soon anyway, so it’s not like I can cancel it. Just eat it when it comes.”
- “Guys, that’s enough!” I eventually shout at them. “please stop this. It’s a happy evening, let’s not ruin the mood here now. Okay?” I say while looking at them both with a serious yet gentle expression. I lied, the evening was not great, neither was the day, but I just wanted everyone to get along.
20 minutes go bye in silence. Everybody seems to be upset, but me and Harry managed to complete our cooking amidst the silence. All I could do was just stand in the kitchen with my hands on my back, because of how awkward it was, while Harry set the table.
- “Let’s eat, Y/N”
I noticed that Harry had only set the table for two. He completely ignored Kimberley.
- “Kimberley, come eat.” I say, as the peace maker.
- “Nah, she’s good” Harry says, while pouring me some water.
- Are you sure Harry? Because-“
- “Just eat Y/N. jal meoggessseubnida” He says before he starts eating.
15 minutes later, me and harry had finally finished eating. His mom did a great job with the food and so did Harry. It brought back memories on when we used to cook together and rate each other’s cooking skills. I missed it. Harry gets up to wash the plates, but I insist to wash them instead because the air was filled with awkwardness still and I just didn’t want to be involved. Harry didn’t want me to wash the plates because he keeps considering me as a guest, but in the end, he gave in.
A few minutes later, Harry’s phone rings. It’s the pizza man telling him to get the delivery from the garage downstairs. He puts his phone on his coffee table and puts on his hoody. Just as he is turning the door handle, Kimberley runs up to him.
- “P, where are you going?” she says worriedly.
- “Your pizza is here” he says while half ignoring her, face on the ground. “Y/N, Ill be right back.” He says while quickly glancing at me and then closing the door behind him.
Kimberley then goes to the coffee table and grabs Harry’s phone. She seemed like she was going through his phone, while muttering things under her breath. I finish washing the dishes and notice that there’s nothing for me to dry my hands with.
- “Hey, Kimberley, do you know where Harry keeps his hand towels? I gently ask.
- “Shut your mouth. You’re the reason why PH-1 is angry at me. How dare you try and act high and mighty in this house. I wish you never came here. Stupid bitch.”
- “I beg your pardon?” I say, with confusion and shock written all over my face.
- “You heard me, bitch. I said, I wish you never came here.”
- “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been rude to me ever since I got here. Can we just get along, for Harry’s sake?”
- “What if I don’t want to get along with you?” she says with a mean expression on her face.
Just as Kimberley is walking up to me, assuming to slap me, the keys unlock the door from the outside and Kimberley gets shocked and makes an extremely fast U-turn into Harry’s room. Leaving me standing in the living room area alone. Like an idiot. The door opens, Harry looks around the living room and kitchen area and sees no signs of Kimberley.
- “Hey, where is she?” Harry asks, curiously, with a pizza box in his hands.
- “She just rushed into your room.” I say, while being tired of the day, even though its only 8pm.
- “Oh okay, thanks Y/N. Also, I’m sorry about my behaviour earlier. I- I- I just lost it at that moment.” Harry says with disappointment spread on his face.
- “Hey, its okay, Harry. Go in there, she’s probably waiting for you” I say with a smile on my face.
- “Thanks, Y/N. You’re a good friend” he says. Then quickly grabs his phone from the coffee table in the living room and heads to his bedroom.
Its been about an hour since Harry and Kimberley where in his room eating pizza. I got tired so I tried going into his roommate’s bedroom, but it had happened to be locked. I message Harry to ask him how about the sleeping arrangements, but my messages seem to not go through. 2 hours go by and Harry still wont answer his messages. I even call him and its also not going through. As much as I can’t stand Kimberley, I don’t want both herself and Harry to be arguing. So, I end up going to stand Infront of the bedroom, just to hear about what’s going on and I’m hearing giggling. I hear them both giggling because Harry is tickling Kimberley. I even hear Harry ask Kimberley for a kiss, and that’s when I knew that it was time for me to leave. Harry had left my bag on the couch, so I just took it, put on my coat and shoes, then I left. I just sat in my car because I didn’t know where to go and I was just thinking about today. Out of all the days that I have spent with Harry, this one has to be number 1 on the list for the worst. In fact, we barely spent time. Only time we “spent time was while we ate together. I was angry and I was also sad. “What did I do to this girl? Why can’t Harry see that she’s a bad person? Why is Harry making love to this girl why he’s left me all alone for 2 hours, in the living room? Why won’t he reply to my messages or calls? Why is he giving me mixed signs?” That was all that was running through my mind.
I search for hotels that are nearby the highway, that I will be taking to leave this city tomorrow. I find a good hotel and drive to it. I check in and sleep. I wake up the next day and check out. Still, there’s no reply and no calls from Harry. I sigh at the sight of my phone and I just drive off. The car ride home was horrible, it started pouring rain.
I was 8 years old, my family and I left one city and relocated to another. I got transferred to a new school and became the new girl. I didn’t find it hard to adjust because a lot of my classmates were interested in my story and the city that I had just moved from. At lunch time, the older girls and boys decided that it would be funny to bully me. I was so scared because even though my classmates would talk to me and were interested in me, I had no actual friends at that time. 2 weeks go by and I have finally made a few friends, but I was still getting bullied by the 9-year olds. My friends tried to have my back, but they ended up getting bullied because of me. I’ve always wanted to tell the teachers on them, but I didn’t want to be a snitch and be hated by everyone, so I kept quiet. One day, my friends had gone on a school trip, but I was not able to go so I had to stay in school. I had no friends to talk and laugh with, the older kids could see that and so they decided to do what they do best, bully me. As an older girl is pulling my hair and trying to get the other kids to push and kick me to the ground, an older boy who I have never seen steps in. He looked bigger than the other kids and I automatically got scared. I thought he was the leader of the bullies, but it turns out that he came to my rescue.
“Leave the new girl alone, or me and my friends will do the same things to you AND I will also tell the teachers that it was you guys that vandalised the toilets” the boy said.
The bullies got scared of this big 10-year-old kid and ran away. They had never bullied me since.
- “Are you okay?” The boy asks me.
- “yes, thank you so much for sticking up for me. What’s your name by the way?”
- “My name is Harry, and yours?”
- “My name is Y/N. Are you new to this school too? I’ve never seen you around”
- “No, I’m not new. I’ve been here for about 2 years. I can’t believe that you’ve never see me before. I see you all the times”
He sees me all the times huh. That’s weird because I have never noticed him. Maybe it’s because he spends most of his break and lunch time on playground duties? Is he the student president? Or does he just spend time in the library? Weird, but I’m very grateful for his help, it means a lot. So many other big kids would watch me get bullied by the bad kids, but no one would help me, they would always turn a blind eye, some would even threaten me and say that if I tell the teachers, the whole school would bully me but Harry didn’t appreciate it so he stepped up. I will never forget what he had done for me.
School ends for the day and my mum comes to pick me up, I finally tell her about the bullies and most importantly, about the boy, Harry, who came to my rescue. My mother was so upset that I was getting bullied yet relieved that I had friends that tried to put a stop to it and happy that a more influential kid had helped me. My mom didn’t want to leave the school premises just yet, because she wanted to see who Harry was so that she could talk to his mother and thank him for his kindness. When Harry walks out of the school building, I point at him and tell my mum that it was this boy that had stuck up for me. My mother held my hand and gently dragged me to where Harry was waiting for his mother. It was quite embarrassing. He had a confused face but when my mum finally opened her mouth to say -
“you are the boy that stuck up for my daughter today, thank you so much for being a good kid” My mother smiled and then reached her bag for some sweets and gave it to him. He smiled wide and thanked her. My mother then wanted to see and speak with his mother because she had raised such a strong and well-behaved boy. They introduced themselves, my mother told his mother, Soo young, that we were new in town and they had exchanged numbers. They became close friends since then.
As we started to walk home together with Harry and his mother, we noticed that we lived very close to each other. We lived 2 minutes away, all I had to do to get to his house was to cross the road. We lived opposite from each other. We finally get I front of Harry’s house. As we are about to cross the road. To get to our house, Harry says -
“Now that your mum and my mum are best friends, we should be best friends too, right? Harry said, with a confused expression spread across his face.
I nodded and said “yes, let’s be best friends” with a warm smile on my face. He reached out his hand and so did I, and thenwe shook hands and waved goodbye as my mother and I crossed the road.
Harry finally gets inside his house and closes his bedroom door, carelessly throws his backpack on the floor and then lays in his bed. He looks at his right hand that he shook hands with Y/N, puts it in the air and says, “Best friends.” with a warm and kind smile on his face.
