The Phantom Challenge teased me when I wasn't at home and couldn't participate, and even though I've seen a lot of phans' pics of other awesome and wholesome collection - of which i'm super jealous because italy must be the only country where they've never, to my knowledge, performed PotO on stage because apparently we hate every musical unless cocciante wrote it so no merch to be found here whatsoever - I couldn't help but give my very little contribution. So, there!
[from left to right, first line: Love Never Dies (DVD), Unmasked, an erotic novel by Colette Gale, Phantom by Susan Kay, Le Fantôme de l'Opèra (texte adapté par Cideb editrice), The Phantom of the Opera (pre-intermediate activity book; I read this one in middle school at 11 and it's the Galeotto that made me a phan);
from left to right, second line: The Phantom of the Opera 25th anniversary (DVD), Il fantasma dell'Opera (italian translation, Newton & Compton editori), The Phantom of the Opera and Other Gothic Tales (gorgeous edition by Barnes & Nobles), Deception, a Phantom of the Opera novel by Shirley Yoshinaka, and Il Fantasma dell'Opera, 2004 (DVD)]
I can't wait to enlarge my collection. (•}•) 🌹
Phantom of the Opera challenge
I’ve been tagged by @timebird84 (Thank you!)
1. At what age you become a fan of the phantom of the opera?
20/21?
2. Raoul or the Phantom?
The correct answer is; Daroga
3. What version did you see first movie version or stage version?
My ex introduced me to the 25th anniversary, and I loved the songs, but thought not more about it. Then later I read more about the story, and I got hooked.
4. What manager do you prefer Firmin or Andre?
Uhh... Firmin? (tbh, I never can tell them apart)
5. Favorite song?
Music of the Night or Wandering Child
6. Less favorite song?
Prima Donna. Not saying it is bad, but it does nothing for me like the others.
7. Favorite personage?
The hottest man under the sun, Daroga!
8. Less favorite personage?
Buquet. He literally dies first in the book, and yet he gets more screentime on theatre or movies than Daroga. I won’t stand for it.
9. Meg Giry or Madame Giry?
Meg Giry. Just because of the fact that Madame Giry takes Daroga’s role for a short moment, and again, I won’t stand that the Daroga will be erased, dammit.
10. Favorite costume?
Meg’s costume in Masquerade. She looks cute as hell.
phantom challenge 7/30 - Favorite christine costume
definitely the Wishing dress
phantom challenge 5/30 - favorite part of the staged version
TWISTED EVERY WAY NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. I love the blue dress and the emotions and most Christines do so well with it. Except I don’t like when Raoul starts telling her she has to sing. Then I get mad.
Phantom of the Opera 30-Day Challenge: Day One → How you first learned about Phantom.
My mother started it all. She was an actress and growing up she took any chance she could get to do acting exercises with us or to show us different musicals. So naturally Phantom was thrown into the mix and we would listen to the soundtrack over and over again while driving to the supermarket or my grandparents. Due to my mother's influence I easily became obsessed with musical theatre and would beg to listen to the songs. Then when the movie came out we saw that as well and watched it now and then when my brothers allowed it.
Phantom of the Opera 30-Day Challenge: 30. Favorite thing about the Phantom story
I'm a sucker for those abused, sad puppy characters, the misunderstood monsters and those fighting and denying who or what they are. I didn't quite understand my tendency to gravitate to them before Phantom, but looking back I can definitely see it in my favorite stories from childhood. I'm sure there is an interesting psychology behind why people are drawn to those types of characters and stories, but I won't get into that here. As it is, when I first discovered Phantom originally the music pulled me in, but the Phantom kept me there. He is the epitome of the tortured soul/tortured body character that I never realized I focused on, and the journey he goes through in the musical and book just clicked with me.
