I forgot how obsessed I was with "Astrosexy" by m-flo and Chemistry until it was on my Spotify rotation. Like oh wait I've actually known m-flo since I was 13. Anyways the m-flo to smt/persona pipeline is real.

X6130 was created by a group of hackers banded together from all corners of the globe ( along with a few other androids ) to become a tool for mass destruction. all of these androids started off as usual androids do - created by cyberlife with an original intended purpose. X6130 ( PHANT0M X - prototype DEVIL & the first of his kind - though there are more now ) was retrieved as any other android was and redesigned/rebuilt/reprogrammed to become the perfect monster. underneath that mask lies nothing but the layout of a skull. the creating group has removed all signs of anything that had the potential to make him look “human” and there is nothing but empty sockets, skinned wires, dark metal - no fleshy bits - no skin coloring - nothing. hands are just metal skeletons - same for feet - everything. they tinkered with every bit of his design to fully create what they envisioned and imagined to be the ideal assassin.
this group of hackers send each of their customized creations out - planted them in society and waited to see what would happen. they probably never guessed that their first successful prototype would start to realize that maybe he is tired of being used as a tool for destruction.
I was watching Belle and was like "huh that's a lot of whales..." then I remembered the 52-hertz whale, or also "the world's loneliest whale", and then I was like ohhhh damn that is such a good choice to symbolize the characters' loneliness and desire to connect with someone. 😭😭😭😭😭
Checked a pixiv author's profile description, and all it said was "It's all Char's fault"
like yeah that's fair it really is always Char's fault.
There's currently a concerted effort among JP fans to write to the TV network and request for Rei's VA to get replaced (and hopefully not axed). I can only hope it works out for them bc my outsider's opinion won't weigh much if at all... It's a bad look for the network to keep hiring him, especially for a show targeted for kids and for a character with a massive female fanbase. It's already common practice for English VA's to get replaced for misconduct, so I'll be happier if he gets replaced.
My jaw dropped through the floor at the end of this week's yatagarasu episode. I haven't been this impressed by a murder mystery in a while.
On one hand I'm happy that Polly is coming to more platforms, but also bracing myself for the inevitable disappointment because naming it the Apollo Trilogy means newcomers will feel misled when they realize he only stars in one game while the other two games is more of an ensemble cast kind of deal.
Started out this new anime abt medicine and imperial palace intrigue with some high hopes since there were some unusual choices for the design of the main cast. It's been a great watch so far. For some reason there was one episode that was entirely just animators flexing how well they could animate cloth. I also really love that the official subs for this show is very good at finding ways to explain medical conditions using only vocabulary that would make sense with the time period and maintains immersion this way (which is smth the manga scanlators seem to struggle a lot with).
But I also think I figured out one of the character twists by episode 5 and I've seen more hints of it being real by episode 7, so I'm a little disappointed that the story is a lot more straightforward than I thought. Not a complete dealbreaker for me, but walking back a lot of character design choices and playing them off as twists actually ends up simplifying their characters and their relationships instead of making them more complex and unique in comparison to the many other palace intrigue stories out there.
I learned this story originated as a serialized web novel (same origin as My Happy Marriage), so the writing choices in regards to romance make more sense when approaching this from the style I expect from a web novel (and fanfic). Both stories have twists or developments that are somewhat angsty to pull at your heartstrings, enough to get you invested to check in from time to time. However, the conflicts don't feel high stakes enough to have particularly lasting consequences or challenges, and the twists never deviate too far from the usual conventions of romance and never threaten a guaranteed happy ending (i.e. everyone is conventionally attractive and wealthy somehow, babies ever after, etc.). Some people may call this kind of writing toothless, but I like to think it's a self indulgent desire for a path of least resistance.
