oh good, I thought it was just me. Glad to know I’m not the only one bothered by that episode. And yes, all of your points are the exact same reasons why I don’t like that ep. :C

Hm, I always thought older Terry looked like a cross between Danny of the T-Birds and one of the Fisher Price Rescue Heroes. I’m comfortable writing the episode off as nonsense on aesthetic grounds alone, ugh! Also, your more reasonable reasons.

as soon as i started the episode and that terry came on screen i felt deeply disrespected. it only went down hill from there.

if i remember correctly, terry and bruce being related was a popular fan theory when the show was airing as an explanation why terry and matt (who both have black hair) didnt really look like either their mom or dad since they had red and brown hair. it was pretty much just added into jlu as a nod to the fans

the whole POINT of batman beyond is that batman doesn’t have to follow the mold of bruce wayne’s batman. that story loses a hell of a lot of power if terry isn’t exactly the random heroic teenager off the street that he appears to be.

yesyesyes. terry's batman is so different from bruce's in so many ways but the most important imo is that terry as a person doesn't need to cut away at himself to be batman. bruce gave up everything to be batman but terry doesn't need to. watching the way their dynamic unfolds in the course of the show is one of the best things about it bc they're both learning from each other and to just reduce their relationship to blood father and son just seems to ruin everything the show did.
