Pharao Sepia / pharaoh cuttlefish / Sepia pharaonis / Marsa Abu Galawa - Hurghada - Red Sea / Aquarius Diving Club
Whew! After a week like that, we could all use some big cuttles, right? Good thing pharaoh cuttlefish are back on display in our Tentacles special exhibition. These vibrant cephalopods can grow up to 18 inches long and rapidly change colors for camouflage, communication or courtship!
Clever girl...
Rather remarkable mimicry behaviour in the Pharaoh Cuttlefish (Sepia pharaonis). When hunting in open areas, or sneaking up on small fish, these cuttles do a very convincing arthropod impersonation. Complete with twitching antennae.
