Ever had a patient ask you if you’re having a bad day and follow it up with asking if you had a bad childhood? ….because you asked him to wait at the “WAIT HERE FOR PATIENT PRIVACY” sign and that was too difficult for him to figure out.

To which I told him that was wildly inappropriate to ask anyone.

Yeah, love when the pharmacy switches generic brands without informing anyone.

So I refilled my antihistamine nasal spray because pollen season is quickly arriving. Major problem is the new one contains citric acid and pretty high up on the ingredient list. I couldn’t avoid picking it up to find out as my pharmacy doesn’t seem to think it necessary to disclose the inactive ingredients on the app.

Inhaling that directly into my respiratory system is going to shoot my risk for anaphylaxis straight up. Those mast cells of mine are the most sensitive ones for me.

While switching without informing people (which my last pharmacy always informed of a manufacturer change) might not be the biggest issue for most people, it is a significant problem for those with mast cell disorders or allergies.

Pharmacy PSA: ALWAYS have your ID and some form of payment. I can't tell you how many times we've had people come to pick up prescriptions that need an ID and don't have it on them. Wtf are you driving without it? It literally doesn't matter if you live five minutes away. We can't sell you the prescription without it. You're just making more work for yourself. Also, don't expect your prescriptions to always be no charge. I say 'no charge' because even if you are on government assistance and aren't paying for your meds, someone else is. That said, most OTCs aren't covered, at least in my state. So just bring some money just in case. Why go to the ER, let the doctor prescribe Tylenol, have the pharmacy fill it, find out there's a charge, then NOT pick up because 'Oh, I have some at home.' You're wasting everyone's time for some Tylenol you had at home. Bet if it were 'free' you'd pick it up.
