PSA.
Hi.
It might not occur to a LOT of people, but pharmacists and technicians (especially those of us who were lucky enough to land in retail) have lives outside of the pharmacy. You showing up at five seconds to officially close, screaming racial slurs at the pharmacy staff because they’re lowering the gates, makes you look like an asshole, honestly (especially over something that can likely wait the next day, such as the birth control you were hollering over).
I wasn’t the tech in this case; brother and I were at a major chain in the front of the store and we suddenly hear:
“WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK, YOU F*CKING STUPID ASS (insert racial slur here) PHARMACIST? I need MY MOTHERF*CKING BIRTH CONTROL, YOU F*CKING PIECE OF F*CKING SH*T." There's a pause (as the someone appearing to be the store manager or shift supervisor rushes back there) before I hear, "IT'S BECAUSE I'M (insert race here) ISN'T IT, YOU RACIST PIECE OF F*CKING SH*T. YOU WANT ME TO GET PREGNANT, HUH?! YOU WANT ME BACK ON WELFARE, HUH?! WHO THE F*CK IS YOUR SUPERVISOR BECAUSE I'M GONNA MAKE SURE YOUR RACIST ASS NEVER WORKS THIS TOWN AGAIN, MOTHERF*CKER."
[ bonus points: my four-year-old niece and two-year-old nephew overheard this person screaming. I just LOVE IT when people scream obscenities around little kids, y’know; especially considering these two get enough of it between their parents being uncivil to each other as they file for divorce. ]
In my opinion, threatening to end the staff’s employment because you didn’t arrive early enough is stupid (so’s using the race card. Not EVERYTHING is about race, you know; don’t take it that way, all right?) .. These people work REALLY hard under continual budget/hour cuts and struggling to make end’s meet (especially some of the technicians), district supervisors riding their butts on increasing script counts for sales (which never made sense to me because you need PEOPLE to make this happen and where are the people when you’re continually cutting hours?) on top of adhering to their state’s pharmacy laws along with federal.
... Just my two cents as a former retail CPhT.

Pharmacy Technican
Starting in 2011 I gained my first job as a Drive Thru cashier at KFC/Taco Bell (it's a combination fast food place) and I worked there for three years, and before ever working there I was completely shy and always worried about other's opinions of me. So since having a job dealing with the public I began to grow out of that shy-ness, yet I am still learning new things about myself as a person.
Anyway I worked three years there while also looking for better opportunities for me and my family. During this time I had a huge desire to work for Rite Aid as a Pharmacy Technican...so I kept putting applications in one after another until finally this year an opening appeared. Once I heard of this position I took another application in as well as talking to the hiring Pharmaciest. I was told that in hiring she wanted to eventually work me up to full time but that would be a while so she suggested me keeping my other job as a back up! Well after two months of attempting both jobs I had to quit KFC it was to stressful and way to aggravating!
Upon quitting that job it opened up a lot more chances to stay home with my daughter as well as bring in a income though it was a $100 dollars less than what I was used to making, it allowed me to bond with her more and still continues to! This job also has helped me to become more independant which is something I've come to enjoy! So after so many years of praying for an opportunity that would make my daughter proud of me in the future, I was blessed with this job. I say blessed because, usually in any Pharmacy you are required to have a college education to be a Tech, but thankfully with Rite Aid they provide you with classes and a test to become a certified technican. Without it costing me anything out of pocket, so again I am blessed. Also with this job I have come to love myself more as a person as well as an mother, wife, and a supporter of my family.
So this random rant is simply saying that I have accomplished so much in the past four years and still going strong. I plain on becoming more educated and taking the national test with Rite Aid in time. Because, as long as I can get the opportunity to better myself I'm taking it. So again this is a random rant but heck it's allowed right!
*MUAH*
Pharma... Stuff.
[ I should be blogging on AIRPH, but it won't open. :/ Delete later. ]
For the past two weeks, I've been working my butt off at a store within the community I now live in. I'm still not sure what to think about it. I was working at a lower poverty store for the past 4 years, and I knew the customers like the back of my hand. I knew who was going to want what in terms of cost, and what likes and dislikes.
Now...
Yesterday, someone's med came out to $168, and I was like, "oh, dear, they're not going to want it," because it was a generic, and I thought they might have a deductible. ... Anyway, I show it to the person, and they're like, "Umm...? Yeah. That's cool."
.... I nearly fainted. x.x;
Rich community versus poor community. Who wins? :/
Yesterday ROCKED.
Two girls, dressed as Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin, came into my store, and it was the most AWESOME thing EVAR ('cause I've only seen VOCALOID cosplay once). I really wanted a picture, but had no camera... ^^; (which was stupid, now that I think about it, 'cause I work at a chain pharmacy, and we had disposable cameras...)
Then, I had to explain to the pharmacist about VOCALOID and the characters, which was kinda fun... She just chalked it up as "Aa-chan and her anime." XD
so yeah. work.
I normally post all my work-related crap @ A.I.R.P.H, but I feel like ranting today. ~_~;
For the love of anything that's right, people: do NOT call 1 minute to close, and expect me to stay twenty minutes late just so you can get your goddamn Flonase, or birth control -- something you can live WITHOUT. Honestly, you had ALL DAMN DAY to come pick up your shit, especially when you know the pharmacy closes at 5 on weekends.
...
Am I just too heartless? :/ I've been busting my ass all day with a sick pharmacist, and was quite ready to get the hell out of there. Not to mention, we're overbudget, and I can't afford to stay late.
Bah.
