[D-95] 2016.03.16 Wednesday
Met an old colleague for dinner who published her thesis in 2013 and just got a permanent position at the institute she worked for the past three years. We had dinner and talked about life and work and projects and love for five hours straight.
She was not entirely happy about my interpretation of her thesis in one of my scientific essays but didn’t dare to write it via email, not to offend me. I think that was pretty nice of her, but I would have preferred an honest feedback like five months ago, when that article was published. The other feedback I got from professors and academics was only positive, so I will look into the part she pointed out again.
I believe without timely, honest feedback, you don’t have a chance to get better.
It was so good to exchange views on so many various subjects, and I am truly happy she is in a place where she is working on numerous projects and has a stable financial income, even though she does not really work in the field she would like to.
I ruminate too much on things that will not change through ruminating. I got so motivated by the talk, also seeing that there is a life after the thesis.
