Looked at post-phd job ads to try and motivate myself to finish the thesis I’m bored of...
...but it’s demotivating me more because HOW can anyone be qualified for these things?
E.g. in addition to a PhD and neuroimaging experience, they also want
Programming skills
Publications
Proficiency in a specific foreign language
Grade 6 music theory
Knowledge in THREE psychology-related specialisations
Experience with a very specific range of research techniques
Experience with a specific learning difficulty assessment
Ability to do regular international trips
Are these written with a specific person in mind or are almost-PhD-grads generally that competent in that many things?

Feedback: My supervisor wrote that the updates on my thesis with the research so far is “very promising“ and that he believes I will manage it really well. I always worked better with carrots, sticks weren’t my thing.
Cleaned up about 55GB of my Mac and installed MS Word 2016 and EndNote x7. I figured I need some consistency now. Still have to install that on my Laptop with Windows...
Reading through some analytical work on the era around 1200. I might need more primary works, gotta figure out how to justify my choice of primary works after all.
However high we climb in the pursuit of knowledge we shall still see heights above us, and the more we extend our view, the more conscious we shall be of the immensity that lies beyond.
