Excelsior Unity Event
Twelve VI Form BTEC Business students recently planned and delivered an event to promote multi-cultural understanding in our Academy for Year 7 and 8 pupils. Three sessions were delivered in a day, one for each of Excelsior’s 11-16 schools.
The event took the form of a music concert which was held in Excelsior’s sports hall which aimed to highlight the issues around racism and how to work together to stop it happening.
There was music and different performers dancing, singing, rapping and acting. A range of activities was also on offer including; henna tattoos, reading and finding out more about a range of different cultures, word search and worksheets. Along with traditional food.
Guest speakers gave talks on how racism can affect people, respecting all people regardless of their age and colour and what British really means in today’s multi –cultural society.
The feedback from pupils and staff was very positive and all agreed it had been a great event and a good way to highlight an important issue.
The students want to thank all those involved and the support they received to plan and deliver the event.
Bag Packing Fundraising Fun!
The following pupils helped out over the weekend (4 hours on Saturday & 2.5 hours yesterday) to do a bag pack at Morrisons Cowgate to raise funds in supporting Young Americans projects next year. We raised a total of £602.32.

Excelsior Health & Wellbeing Roadshow Blog
I think I can speak for everyone concerned when I say the Roadshow this morning in Wingrove Primary School was fantastic. We were again made to feel so welcome and staff, parents and pupils were very receptive to our message.
There were lots of parents and staff keen to see what was going on and a record 30 adults had BP assessment. The pupils we're really lovely and very complimentary about our catering manager Lyndsey's food. Our Excelsior College leaders, who were there to get the pupils moving, were a shining example of our students. We all enjoyed the experience , thank you to Wingrove for making it such a great event.
