Debuting in Detective Comics (Vol 1) 38 from April 1940, the rich history of the character Robin the Boy Wonder is one of the most celebrated in DC Comics' mythology. The figure's legacy has continued within several characters in Batman's history, one of the most favored being Timothy Drake. Named after 'Batman' director Tim Burton, Marv Wolfman and Pat Broderick created Tim Drake in August 1989 in response to the prior death of the second Boy Wonder, Jason Todd, by the hands of The Joker in Jim Starlin's Batman: A Death in the Family. Each Robin brought a uniqueness to the character. The first Robin, Dick Grayson, shared a similar tragic background with his mentor Bruce Wayne and had incredible acrobatic abilities; Jason Todd as Robin relied on his instinct and rebellious persona to be a worthy and strong sidekick to the Dark Knight. When Tim Drake is introduced, he quickly illustrated to be a perfect fit for this role with his brilliant detective skills, a defining characteristic of our celebrated hero, making him a popular figure among readers. In our newest history session, "The Natural Detective: A History of Tim Drake", we will discuss Drake's role as Robin and Red Robin (original art by Phil Cho) and other personas throughout his 25+ years in comic books, animated television, film and video games from his creation in 1989 to his role in DC Rebirth today. Stay tuned for Tim Drake's debut in DC Comics soon on History of the Batman. ✌🏼️❤️💛📖🎨
