it is 3 am and i just watched joel farabee mic’d up at lake tahoe for the first time and i just fell in love with him because he called nolan patrick “babe”. i think i should go to sleep, i don’t even know this mans😭

Hey I respect all of y’all but we don’t need to be vaguing. Yeah, in general the safest assumption to make is that hockey players at large are an extension of the very conservative culture they are a part of and yeah, in general it sucks that we have to keep this in mind and let it temper our enjoyment of the sport and the players we are fans of. But this is not in general, this is a specific thing and for every few posts making nondescript jibes and expressions of disappointment, there should be at least a few that say outright that Carter Hart of the Philadelphia Flyers believes conservative propaganda at least enough to circulate it within his personal sphere. This is the kind of thing that can eventually be swept away as general character criticism if we don’t acknowledge what exactly happened.

So like.

All Summer Long- Travis Konecny

Summary: After many summers together in Port Stanley, Travis finally confirms his feelings for you.

When your parents said they were buying a summer home, you expected a beautiful house on the beach, not some cottage in the middle of bofu Canada. Your dad’s idea of “fun” was hunting and fishing with your uncles. Despite being his daughter, you guys definitely did not share the same definition for fun. You wanted a big house, near the beach, so you could spend every summer just soaking up the sun.

The only good thing that came from your new house in Port Stanley was the hot guy who lived in the house down the road. He seemed to also only be here during the summer, and watching him from the pier in your backyard was the highlight of your days.

It only took the half the summer before your families became close, and started spending the majority of the summer together. Travis became one of your closest friends, and you guys spent most of the summer together, when he wasn't hunting and fishing with his brother and both your dads. Your friendship with Travis made your slight crush turn into full blown obsession. You were pretty sure he got hotter every summer. When he came back from his first full season in the NHL, you were shocked. He had always been muscular, but this was a whole new level of jacked. It only made saying goodbye at the end of each summer that much harder.

“Hellllooo earth to y/n??” Travis waved in your face.

You were sitting in a hammock in your backyard, reading, and you must have zoned out thinking about Travis.

“Sorry Trav. What were you saying?” You asked.

“Tonight Colton is having a bonfire. I said we would go. It starts at 7.”

“Yeah, yeah that sounds good. Are you driving?”

“Yup. I’ll pick you up in your driveway tonight. I have to go workout and skate.” He kisses your cheek, and heads toward his truck.

You decided just to wear jean shorts and a long sleeve flyers shirt that was most likely Trav’s. You threw on a little makeup, and just let your hair fall naturally. True to his word, Travis was in your driveway at 6:55pm. You ran out the door, saying goodbye to your parents, and jumped in the passenger seat of his truck.

“Love the t-shirt, but it does look awfully familiar. I think I’ve seen that hot guy a few houses over wear it before.”

You laugh. “There is a hot guy who lives next door? Wait why haven't you introduced me to him?”

“You're looking at him, babe.” You both burst out laughing at that, but you have to admit hearing him say babe and joke like this makes your heart swell.

There weren’t too many people at Colton’s, and he already started the bonfire. Travis disappeared, telling you he would get both of you a drink. You got pulled away by some friends soon after your arrival.

You were four white claws deep, and a little more than tipsy. You had talked to almost everyone at the party, and you were having a hard time finding Travis. You finally spotted him sitting around the fire.

“Trav, I’ve literally been looking all over for you. Where have you been?”

“I’ve been right here all night long y/n.” He said pulling you in between his legs.

“You are a cuddly drunk, did you know that?” You slur.

“I’m alway cuddly babe, you just never cuddle with me.” He tells you seriously.

“Travis Konecny first of all, stop calling me babe. And secondly you have never once asked me to cuddle with you.”

“You don't like it when I call you babe?” He acts with a concerned look on his face.

“It’s not that I don’t like it, it just, we are, well we are just friends, and when you call me babe it just..”

“Just what?” He asks.

“Ugghhh.” You bury your now very red face into his chest.

“Y/n,” He says grabbing my chin, “I’m going to kiss you now.”

For a moment you are shocked, but then you realized what was happening and kissed him back. You were kissing your best friend, the boy you had a crush on for so many summers, the boy who would never have come into your life if your parents hadn't purchased this awful house.

“Trav, kiss me again.”
