About the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)
Established on 16 June 1980 through Batas Pambansa 79, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is an agency under the Office of the President mandated to promote and uphold the interests, rights, and welfare of Filipino immigrants and strengthen their ties with the Philippines.
Distinct from other migrant-serving government agencies, the CFO's programs and services are specifically designed for Filipino emigrants who become permanent residents abroad, naturalized citizens in other countries, Filipino dual citizens, Filipino spouses and other partners of foreign nationals, descendants of overseas Filipinos, Filipino youth overseas, as well as cultural exchange program participants to the United States and Europe-bound au pairs. These groups of Filipino migrants represent the majority of the estimated 10 million overseas Filipinos who live in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.
