As my #birthday on 7th October approaches, gifts have begun to wing their way through the ether towards me. It’s midnight & Im snuggled in bed, attached to a TENS machine in ancestral robes from 1780s & my precious miniatures & I’m still wearing this glorious #baroque -esq masque gifted to me by the fabulous @amandaeliasch - “Empress of the Style” before she whisked me off to celebrate the birthday of the beautiful @seraoflondon with #philipsallon & Sera’s majestic @viviennewestwood gown & the vision of pageboys I imagined carrying her train @Thewolseley 💜 it was A magical afternoon of gateau reparte & history as we linked Elizabeth’s magus #johndee (1527- 1609) & Queer Torchbearers of History #transgender celebrity (& agent of the Lords of Court) Mall Frith (1584-1659) & Restoration #lesbian #spy #playwright & #abolitionist #aphrabehn (1640-1689) & Purcell (1659-1695) interspersed with performances by Philip & toasts to Sera - creating precious memories, which, like cerebral gemstones will continue to sparkle & accrue in value with each recollection - #makingmemories #lgbtqia #queerhistory #fashionasart #artasfashion #sustainablefashion #vintagefashion #styleistimeless (at The Wolseley) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFS9UNRgJs5/?igshid=1c8j7t9z2rjpx

Outside @thegrouchoclub celebrating #philipsallon birthday b4 #Covid19 I wear a #handcrafted #crown constructed around a 1776 hand-painted portrait of one my #Irish #ancestors who was #persecuted & declared “subhuman” & “deviant” for her #gender #sexuality #race & Faith - to celebrate all the #lgbtqia #heroines & heroes of ghosted from #history because they didn’t fit the heroic narrative of GREAT (Straight-white) MEN 🦉 #fashion in #Britain & Ireland has been used to express ideas & demand change since 1604. In an age of #sustainablefashion The #transgenderartist who “Mends & makes fabulous” the #dandy in his #vintage cape; woven of all the times he’s been asked to leave the venue for looking “too flamboyant” #queerartists #eccentrics & originals with the courage to “cut a sartorial line of their own” & “challenge the narrow-minded pathway of conformity” - These sartorial #subversives are the #torchbearers for change!
