adjusting to the 21st century was proving to be difficult. phillip wasn't used to all of this, he was used to keeping himself to himself, enjoying his plants, and not worrying about the gossip of the ton. it was sort of hard to avoid society in such a way here, especially with technology. "i cannot figure this out," he muttered to himself, staring at the iphone like it had personally offended him. "what is the fascination with these devices these days? i cannot get away with it myself."

"Are you from here?" For Phillip, it was all proving to be a massive adjustment still. It was all well and good being in a new country, but an entirely new period of time was something else entirely. He'd found out a bit more about how to use the internet, but there was still so much that was different here compared to the 1800s. "Or, should I say, are you from now?"

where was he even supposed to start with a question like that? for a man who'd suddenly been pulled from his own time period, the list sort of went on and on. the 21st century, in comparison to the 19th, was an awfully frightening place. phillip studied gigi for a moment, trying to decide just how honest to be. he didn't have to tell the truth, and yet... "two things mainly. one is never getting to leave this place," he admitted. "and the other is having to go back after experiencing this new world."

it was a relief to see so many familiar faces from the 19th century, even if many of them weren't that familiar. he knew hyacinth vaguely, as he did most of the bridgertons, but in a new, confusing place like this, that was enough. "nothing," he insisted. "i am simply trying to adjust...could you perhaps help me?"

"Are your entire family here?" Phillip found himself asking, as he recognised yet another of the Bridgertons. He wasn't complaining about that, if anything it was quite a relief to know he wasn't the only one who had suddenly been thrust into this time period. "How long have you been here? I am finding it quite difficult to get used to this time."

"you are..." he trailed off, feeling a little bad that he didn't know each of the bridgertons as individuals, couldn't pick out her first name, though it wasn't as if he left romney hall to mingle with society all that often back home. the smile on phillip's lips was apologetic. "one of the bridgertons, yes? forgive me, i have only spoken properly with colin. there certainly seems to be a lot of us here from our time, how is that possible?"

The familiarity he felt around a lot of people who seemed to be here was minimal at best, for Romney Hall was a decent 100 miles or so outside of Mayfair, he hadn't brushed shoulders with the ton as much as he could have if he wanted to. Still, she felt vaguely familiar, and it seemed like a common theme here so far - others from back home somehow in the 21st century. "I believe we have crossed paths before, have we not?"

"you are colin's brother, are you not?" perhaps he was wrong, it wasn't as if phillip was particularly well acquainted with the bridgertons, mainly only though marina, but he was certain he recognised more people than he'd expected to in this place. he'd presumed he'd be entirely alone adjusting to this new era. the lack of immediate recognition had him feeling like he might be wrong, or perhaps he just required more context. "should i say, you are also from the 1800s, adjusting to this time period?"
