11.20.15 Jenneh #HollywoodHills New Balance Fresh Foam Zane  I've been a runner pretty much my entire life. Once upon a time, I was a Nike girl (we all make bad decisions when we're young). After running Cross Country in college, and getting free Asic's apparel, I've been in love with that brand ever since. I walked into a shoe store a couple months back to pick up a new pair of Asics since I'd ran my old ones to death. I was met by an extremely zealous sales person. I've noticed most people that work at running shoe stores are fellow runners, so they're always so excited to help you find the best shoe for you. I knew what I was there for, and told the guy exactly what I wanted, but of course, he insisted on bringing me out the shoes I asked for and "similar styles". I let him do his thing but told him "I'm an Asic girl". I tried on the shoes I came for, but also decided to try on these New Balances just for fun. I'm usually pretty set in my decisions, but these shoes were so insanely light weight, I immediately thought "I'd kill a 5k in these." So I bought the shoes I came for, and these! I haven't had a chance to race in them yet. Some health issues have put me on the side line, but I'm positive when I'm back to myself that I'll PR in these bad boys... 11.15.15 Ken #Willingboro TOMS Twill Paseo Classic Burgundy Story: For me, shoes and sneakers are all about utility. I can appreciate the beauty, craftsmanship and design of the familiar fallbacks: Jordan’s, Kobe’s, KD’s, and Yeezy’s but I can’t bring myself to part with that type of money. Even if I could afford it, I’m not sure that I would buy them (with the exception of the Yeezy’s because I’m a Kanye fanboy) because something doesn’t sit right about paying $150+ for a sneaker that you know it cost less than $20 to make. I’m not some hipster trying to provide social or political commentary through my choice in footwear, it’s not that deep, but there are just other things that I would rather spend my money on. I’m the same kid who’s dad walked him into the Nike store and told him to cop anything I wanted and still came out empty-handed. As for these, they were an impulse buy while outlet shopping in VA. My wife and I were really there to do some back-to-school shopping for my niece, but I decided to take a detour into Journey’s for the hell of it. These spoke to me for the same reason you can usually find me in jeans and a t-shirt. I had heard about the TOMS brand before, but didn’t like the look so I held off, but these were dope. Something about the simplicity of their design coupled with the charitable slant instantly attracted me. 11.11.15 Nate #WestHollywood Under Armour Bandit Story: A few weeks ago I received a nice box filled with free Under Armour sneakers and apparel. Now I don't usually wear Under Armour but who doesn't like free. So I decided to take the pair of running sneakers out for a test run. A little 4 miler, nothing too serious. At about mile 3 I realized I didn't like them, at all. So I finished my run and started my walk home when I noticed a guy on the corner asking for money. I briefly thought to myself "I'm never gonna wear these shoes again, I should just give them to him" and not even a full minute later he yells out to me "Hey! How was your run?". Not sure how he knew I just finished a run but I figured this was a sign. I asked him what size shoe he was and he replied "whatever size I can get". I took the sneakers off, gave them to him and walked home barefoot. Nike Flyknit Racer ‘Tranquil’ Story: So I stumbled upon these shoes by “accident”. I pre-ordered these in January ’15 and forgot all about it. Then, seeing them on Nike’s Launch Calendar in September, I became obsessed. OBSESSED. Mint green Flyknit with a royal blue/white midsole = heaven! Then, as the October 9, 2015 release date was approaching, they miraculously appeared in my office about a week before! Now there’s fresh. And there’s early. But fresh AND early! That’s an undisputable, undefeated combination. Well maybe not undefeated…..if you can get your hands on an unreleased pair of sneakers, you could basically retire for a year. At any rate, the first thing I do à hit Snapchat. Instant KOTNight! So my Hypebeast Followers and Runner Friends KNOW that I’m F&E. I mean, fashion is my sport! I don’t even want to wear these yet. Gotta save for the appropriate moment. The goal is to rock these before they release, so that the world realizes how F&E I am. I fail….. Then this little event called the New York City Marathon appears on my professional/social radar. Gonna be around a ton of runners. Scratch that…..a ton of STYLISH runners. People who work for Nike. People affiliated with Nike. People who know me to be on the cutting edge side of this athletic fashion thing of ours. Can’t let the family down!What’s the newest, freshest running shoe I have: Nike Flyknit Racer ‘Tranquil’. And although I definitely wasn’t early, I most certainly wasn’t late. 11.5.15 Richard 08046 New Balance 860 Story: Last May I decided to sign myself and my ex-girlfriend up for the Philly 10k. There was method to this madness but that's another story for another day. After realizing the sneakers I was training in were God awful my little sister came home one day with these bad boys and they have legitimately changed my life. I immediately put them on to test them out on a run and haven't looked back since. Months later I completed my 1st race and I can't even begin to describe how awesome it felt to cross that finish line. Through running I've found motivation, a (somewhat) healthier lifestyle, new friends that have quickly become family and another purpose. Through running I've been able to motivate a few people and be part of an awesome community of runners locally and in surrounding cities.
