Tuesday: The Truth About The Worst Day Of The Week!
Oh Tuesday. What can I say about you? If I followed the old rule of “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”, but then this would be the shortest thing I’ve ever written. So we will skip that. Instead I will tell you how trash you are. So meaningless, so worthless, such a bleh day. I’m almost positive I’ve never actually made the noise “bleh” before but Tuesday deserves it. I would call it the middle child of days but that is too far off. As middle children at least have some kind of standing in their families and on this planet. Tuesday you are stupid and not to mention it rains on Tuesdays almost more than every other day of the week.
For as long as I can remember I have sat back like a coward and watched as society has given a bad name to Monday. Everyone hates Mondays and I don’t think this is fair. As a human being and a Christian I will not stand here silently any more. Here are my thought on why every day of the week is better than that stupid, ugly, rainy, no identity having son of a gun, Tuesday.
SUNDAY
Sunday. The 1st day of the week for most of us? I feel like some cultures have some other day of the week that kicks things off but whatever, they probably aren’t reading this. To many of us this is the day of the Lord and we rejoice and are glad in Him!!!! PRAISE HIM! I love church if you didn’t know and it’s always a great way to start the new week. For others it’s a day to sleep in and catch up on the rest that was missed due to a fun Saturday evening. Now if you’re a heathen and decide that you don’t want to spend any time in the house of the Lord then you can just fast forward to about 1230p and start brunching/Sunday Funday. Take a little good weather, a great group of friends and a few tasty beverages and Sunday afternoons can become as ragetastic as a Saturday night. But tread lightly my friends because too much Sunday Funday can lead to terrible feelings towards tomorrow. Oh yes, the misunderstood Monday.
MONDAY
It’s Monday morning! Wake up with some pep in your step and go take on the work week like the warrior you are! No? This is not how you feel? Oh yea that’s right, your Sunday Funday that was supposed to end after a few mimosas turned into shots of whiskey at some dive bar with a juke box that took every bit of cash that you had in your wallet. Either that happened or you just hate your job which isn’t Monday’s fault. Either way stop blaming Monday for your poor decisions! It’s the beginning of your (work) week and you have so many great things to look forward to like recapping the weekend with coworkers. Or kicking ass in …..whatever foolish tasks they have you doing at your job. Whatever the case may be don’t go around hating on Monday. HATE YOURSELF! Ok that’s awful advice. Don’t do either because there’s a bigger enemy here and we will get to it at the end of all this.
WEDNESDAY
Ok so you made it to the middle of the week. Wednesday also known as hump day. This is a great day whether you have camels in your office screaming a lame joke at you or not. Back in my days as a 9 to 5 guy I remember the office having a very calm feel to it. Kind of like “hey we’ve made it this far and the weekend is almost here” . You’re over the fact that your weekend came to an abrupt ending a few days ago and you can legally start thinking about what nonsense you’re going to get into during the upcoming weekend. I’m trying not to mention the wicked day that comes before Wednesday but the most important thing is that you survived it. And that alone is reason to celebrate.
THURSDAY
Now Thursday is actually one of my favorite days of the week. There’s just something about the air on a Thursday that always seems to put a smile on my face. I think this can be traced back to the college years when “Thirsty Thursday” was the most anticipated evening of the week due to poor decision and REALLY cheap drinks at some shitty bar. As an adult, Thursday is when you start mentally preparing for the weekend ahead of you and if you’re a degenerate like many of you reading this are, you start the weekend on Thursday as soon as you leave the office. Many people call Thursday, Friday Jr and I have no problem with that name . Let your unofficial weekend begin you fine human being you!
FRIDAY
You’ve done it. You’ve actually done it! You have made it through all 5 days of this thing called the work week and it’s now time to give yourself a pat on the back. Not really that big of an accomplishment but I’m all about handing out life’s versions of participation trophies. So you’re welcome. The weekend is officially upon you and it’s time to go wild! Which usually translates to you being tired as all hell, a glass of wine and watching the tele until you fall asleep around 930p. Either way, you deserve to celebrate this amazing day.
SATURDAY
Many people tend to think Sunday is the day of rest but I beg to differ. There is NOTHING like a lazy Saturday in my eyes. Yes I know you could spend this weekend day being productive and clean and organize your life and take your kids to the park or whatever you parent people do. But no. I want to do NOTHING. At least during the day. By the time the sun goes down all of the hard work and effort it took to make it from Monday to Friday starts to whisper little things like “go out for a few drinks, you deserve it” and before you know it you’re dancing somewhere you have no business being to Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It”.
Now let me get back to that thing called Tuesday. I won’t even give you a meme. Do you see how awesome all the other 6 days of the week are? Do you notice they each have some sort of identity to them? All amazing and special in their own little way. Tuesday let me ask you a question….. what are you good for besides nothing? What is your claim to fame? Why should I not hate you? You don’t start anything. You’re not in the middle or end of anything and it rains when you arrive. There’s no football on Tuesday night. NOTHING! While typing this I have tried to think of something other than “Taco Tuesday” to hand to this awful day but no, I won’t even glorify that because you can eat tacos on any day you damn well please so until Tuesday gives me a reason to like it, I will continue to do the opposite. Now go enjoy the rest of you terrible Tuesday!

Yesterday's #BroadStreetRun and post run festivities were a reminder of why I do this. Why I put my body and brain through so much. 8.16.2016 James #Yardley #NikeZoomturf Story: Let me take you all back to 1996, Jay-z reasonable doubt, Nas- it was written, OutKast- ATLiens, Mobb deep- Hell on earth, Tupac- All eyes on me, and the list goes on. Classics!! We had MJ back on the hardwood winning another ring, The Dallas Cowboys winning a super bowl, and oh yea my parents getting divorced. Life was about to change and I pretty much had no idea. Let me try to make this story short. Remember back in the day your parents would get you a shoe for the summer and then you didn't get another pair until school started. So the summer heading into 6th grade I opened a Eastbay magazine and saw the Nike Zoom Turf 96 and aww man I had to have them. After weeks of begging my mom to buy them for me she did. Now common back in the day when you got a pair of sneakers your wore them things everyday and everywhere, so you can imagine what I did to them over the course of 3 months. Well little did I know my grandparents did most of the school shopping for my sister and I and they weren't available this time around due to the bad divorce that just happened and mom dukes was barely making ends meet. So it was either school shopping and new kicks or a roof over our head. September comes and its time for school. No new kicks, no new clothes, nothing! Remember those Nike zoom turf 96's? They literally were destroyed. They had holes in them, like big ass holes. The soles were pretty much coming off of them. I remember crying getting ready for school, old run down clothes and sneakers that had holes in them, what a way to kick off 6th grade at a new school. Your boy went through it. Laughed at everyday, called dirty, ugly, pretty much everything but a child of God. I hated Life, but I dealt with it and eventually tax season came (the infamous tax money) and my moms friend actually felt bad for me and got me a new pair of sneakers. I tell that long ass story because those Nike zoom turf 96s actually changed my life, I never make fun of anybody for material things because you never know what somebody is going through, also they taught me to try to stay positive no matter how bad things may seem, it can only get better. Now I have a nice collection of sneakers/shoes that I keep very clean lol! Most people think Jordan started everything for me but Nope it was the Nike Zoom Turf 96 (Barry Sanders) P.S- found a new pair on ebay a weeks back and I had to have them! Never forget where you came from.
