I just mainly disagree about the gaming channel because - it's such easy money? they're able to upload long videos (with midroll ads) pretty frequently AND they can often do sponsored videos/brand partnerships. And the algorithm loves gaming channels in general (again, lots of long videos, long watch time). There's a reason gaming channels are so numerous on youtube, I'd be shocked if dnp abandoned that if only for the easy income it brings. (also yes I'm well aware they don't make the majority
of their money just off youtube anymore, but i’d be surprised if they’d decide to just abandon a channel that’s still making them a fair amount of money). and this is of course ignoring any sentimental argument or even them simply enjoying the gaming channel/filming together. just, purely from a monetary standpoint, I’d be shocked if they abandoned dapg completely unless they were replacing it with a different joint channel. 2
also like natasha said a lot of their fame depends on them as a duo and i don’t see them wanting to step away from that (fame or the duo branding) right now, at this particular moment in time. i was here back when they did seem to at least somewhat step away from that, when they had the radio show but no joint channel, and were more active on their individual channels, and rarely ever appeared in each other’s liveshows, etc. that felt VERY different from how things feel right now? 3
i could definitely see them at some point, maybe even some point soon, taking a step back from youtube, but i’d still be surprised if any steps they take right now involved big separate projects when they’re still very much branded as a duo, and seem to be actually more comfortable in that branding than they were a few years ago. (this got really long i’m sorry you know i ramble)
hmmmm I see your point! Yeah I think that dapg will probably still stay relevant and go on for longer! It’s interesting you bring up that era when they did try to separate. I wasn’t there during the time, so I’ve only seen the products and I do agree that it was definitely a different feeling than what it is now. I do think that they will start to get involved in other projects though and that I think Phil’s channel will be this joint channel that is lighthearted and funny as it is now
