will you elaborate on ur last post?
yes ok so! this post was mostly a response to this post which lists just like. general feminist discourse much of which lies in second and third wave feminism which much of fourth wave feminism, despite the good it’s done, has erased a lot of valid points made by its predecessor. some examples are, it’s anti feminist and unfulfilling to be a housewife, whether makeup is oppressive or not, not shaving as a response to beauty standards set by the patriarchy, and general stuff about feeling unsafe around men. while a lot of things are prominent in terf circles, they’re not terf ideals. being a terf is very specific, it’s trans exclusive radical feminism it’s right in the name. terfs believe that trans women are often predatorily infringing on their spaces as they are really men and will never understand the plights of being a women. that is NOT the same as feeling like women have fought so hard to be in the workplace and that your friend’s mom who drives a minivan is throwing that away, or being uncomfortable in makeup and not understanding why other people may feel differently. a lot of Very Online progressives will take literally anything that states, “hey guys, you will need to take more than a weekend off from work and drive 6 hours to st. louis to get an abortion in missouri. maybe cis women DO experience oppression,” as a threat to trans people because while transmisogyny is very real, so is regular misogyny.
i think we as a society forget that a big reason people hate trans women is that they hated cis women first. trans women and cis women are allies because ultimately both groups are fighting against patriarchal oppressive ideals. the only way we’ll get anything done is if we all support each other.
do u have the space cats t-shirt ?
the version he has isn’t available online but you can find clones out there!
Since you don't have asks enabled on your main, what was boarding school like in real life as opposed to book or movie depictions?
you don’t have any freedom at boarding school - i had to check in with my teachers at brunch on the weekends, dinner every night, and at curfew in the dorms. that’s the big one. boarding school is always used as a setting to just let your teen characters do whatever they want and sure there’s a lot of rule bending but my grades got sent home every two weeks and if i skipped class i would have detention and campus restriction for a week, and if i skipped a day of class well then make it six. if you’re sick the nurses give you some sudafed and sends you on your way to class because we all live together everyone’s gonna get sick anyway. if you’re dying you can lay in a bed in the health center. if you want to leave campus you have to sign out and if you’re gone for more than a night or two at an approved by your parents location you have to get all of your teachers to sign off, your coach, your college counselor, and your dorm parent.
also there are dogs everywhere. like we had 25 living on campus.
Mat or sometimes Natacha 😂
For Radnor, I'd like to know about room temps, bathrooms, the laundry room, and dorm traditions, thanks!
ok so i've never lived there but if radnor alum wanna chime in please do!
which dorm has the best bathrooms?
erdman is nice because there's a few per hall but it also means half the time someone will come in and do that door pull thing. i really love the merion bathrooms because i am a slut for bathtubs, and for whatever reasons i really like the ones in the pems too!!
I got into Bryn Mawr today! Any advice for an incoming first year?
anassa kata!!!! i’m sure you’ve already joined your class facebook, and the number one thing i wish someone had advised me to do was to reach out to and actually talk one on one with people in the group so you have some friends and allies day one and it won’t seem as scary. other mawrters feel free to add more!
