"The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, the majesty of our God." I'm thankful for the desert, for all of its rough beauty and quiet solitude. The Bible uses the desert for a lot of paradoxes displaying God's perspective on the hardships of our lives, and his redemptive purposes. On the one hand, cactus and thorns seem like a horrible inconvenience; it seems like they're there just to hurt others. But if you observe them for long enough, you'll see how they also serve protective purposes for other living things. "Thorns shall grow over its strongholds, nettles and thistles in its fortresses...Indeed, there the night bird settles and finds for herself a resting place. There the owl nests and lays and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow; indeed, there the hawks are gathered, each one with her mate." In barring the way for some things, God opens up new places of rest and flourishing for others. Thank you Lord! #outdoorunfiltered #phoenixmountains #desertlife
