Phoneography?
I think I just found a new hobby. About 2 weeks ago I bought myself a new phone with a really good camera and it was just a few days ago where I started to develop an interest in photography or in this case, phoneography. My sister recommended me a photo editing app called VSCO and since then I’ve been having so much fun editing photos on my phone.
I experimented with the different filters and play around with the tools. But then I realised I only got about 6 interesting photos in my phone. Not to say that all my photos are not interesting but they’re not worth editing. I took a few photos in my house that I think would look cool but there’s not much. So I went out. I actually went outside to take more photos. This is like the first time ever I went for a walk around my neighbourhood and I’ve lived here since 2011(?). There wasn’t much to explore but I did take some pretty shots. It felt so awkward and weird to be positioning a certain way with your phone trying to take a photo at a certain angle. I have never done this. This is my first time actually really wanting to take a really good photo. I never cared before like I’d just take a photo and not care if it didn’t look cool or pretty just as long as I get the shot of the thing.
I am not a photographer nor do I plan on being one but that shouldn’t stop me from doing what I love. Connor Franta once said that in his A Simple Question video. I never knew how fun it is. I remember not getting what they hype was about. I never understood teenagers being so obsessed with taking photos with their phones. Now I do.
I’m not the best and that’s fine. I don’t plan on being an expert on this because I’m just doing this because I love doing it. But because of my anxiety, it can be nerve-wracking to look dumb and feel like everyone is judging you for your weird photo taking positions. I’ll try to work on that because it shouldn’t matter what people think.
Okay, that’s all I want to share today. If you wanna check out some of the photos I took and edit, you can click here . They’re not the best I know but I’m proud of them. Hopefully I’ll get better in the future. Maybe you guys can share me the photos you’ve taken too. Thank you for your time .
