Phon Coast

Phon Coast lies along the Phon Straits, a natural border between the regions of Archadia and Nabradia. Its pristine white sandy beaches stretch endlessly, creating a stunning contrast against the vivid blue sea, radiant sunlight, and lush green vegetation—a picturesque paradise.

Historically, the area was home to a bustling port called Port Phon, a vital hub for maritime trade between Dalmasca and Archadia. However, with the rise of air transport, the port fell into decline. In its place, the site evolved into a meeting point for adventurers and headhunters, exchanging information and planning expeditions.

Today, this spot is known as the Hunter’s Camp, a central hub for the "Hunt Club." This group is dedicated to tracking and hunting elusive Rare Game.

Vaan and Penelo's conversation overheard during the Phon cutscene:

Penelo: Look at that. It sure is beautiful... Vaan: See that? [points] Come over here. [Penelo steps closer and looks where Vaan's pointing. Vaan pushes Penelo toward the water] Penelo: Hey! Watch it! [hits Vaan] Vaan: [grunts.] Penelo: Like I said, it's a beautiful view... except for you. Vaan: [laughs] Thank you.

Song of the Day: "Phon Coast" from the Final Fantasy XII soundtrack

There are many, many reasons that I FFXII is my favorite title of the series, but I think my primary reason (beyond Gideon Emry's sexy voice and Balthier's delicious pants) are the environments and the epic songs that go with them. I can't tell you how many hours I spent just wandering around the map to take in the details and fangirl over the architecture and clouds. Seriously. Play this game and go to any of the maps and just stare up at the sky. Gorgeous.

Also, Phon Coast music is just so damn cheerful and peppy, I always make sure to listen to it when I go out walking.

Balthier (Final Fantasy XII)

When I first played Final Fantasy XII, once I got to the Phon Coast, I lent it out to someone, and once I got it back, I decided to restart my game because I hadn't played it in like... a year or so. A little refresher was needed. I have now completed the game up to the point where I first started so I decided to create a little character sheet to mark my progress. To be frank, a lot has changed since my first playthrough. Oddly enough, Balthier is the identical level as the first save, but with a far different role. This Balthier is a black mage while the first one was a gunner/Hand Bomb user. With this save, I tried to be a bit exotic and unconventional with every character. Originally, Vaan was my generic melee dps that was very similar to what I did with Ashe. Both used 1H Swords, only Vaan used more magic, but was a far different level (24 in my first one, Ashe was level 26). Another thing to note is how much more balanced my levels are throughout my second playthrough. There's not a whole lot of variance compared to my first one which had a max of 36 and a low of 24. To conclude, I really need to finish this game. I'm excited at the fact, at this point, everything will be fresh! *'s mean they are part of my main party.
