Things I was not expecting to cross off my bingo card this year

- truly disconnecting from my mom

- moving back to CA after planning one more year in MX. No address out here in CA, my things & a whole apartment in MX

- moved my things out of my MX apartment & moved into my own place in LBC within 2 weeks

- opening my heart up again

—- to a married man (of 4 years)?!?

I’m paraphrasing… I got a 20 minutes critique in which mostly I remember this bit. 😄

I need to go to bed but a game on my Steam wishlist was on sale today so I got it and started playing and now I am piloting a tiny robot on an alien planet, following the behest of my spaceship’s AI as it directs me to explore, gather materials, craft things, and try to help it get its communications up and running

a whole bunch of the game’s appeal comes from the spaceship AI--apparently they are from a machine civilization, and the spaceship is excited by this resource-rich planet but utterly DISGUSTED by the actual living things inhabiting it. The way it talks about Life is hilarious (”seeds are like BIOLOGICAL BOMBS”) and it’s generally just an amusing and witty companion

(aside from being very rude to another robot re: her gender identification, which... warning for that, probably, though so far this rudeness has been framed as, well, rude by the narrative and her spaceship isn’t taking my spaceship’s shit)

and now I don’t want to go to bed because we found another stranded spaceship’s mobile unit needs rescuing and I need to save my fellow-robot ;o;

anyway if you like resource-gathering and environmental puzzles and cute robots, Phoning Home is on sale for $4 on Steam, so consider this a positive recommendation! I’ve only played about two hours but they have been two good hours so far :>
