So as someone who enjoys ASMR, you know what’s surprisingly really good for sounds? The phoropter devices that optometrists use. It’s all the clinking sounds that the gears make when your optometrist makes adjustments on the machine, it’s surprisingly relaxing.

Today's Walking Photo: Eye exam today, eyes got dilated and numbed and poked and yes I’m the world’s biggest baby but still there was no way these fuzzy, tingly, light-averse peepers were going out on a walk so like SORRY MAN

But you do get this highliy conceptual, exquisitely-detailed, painstakingly-filtered black-and-white photographic record of my piteous ordeal. So I’d say you come out of it okay. Unlike these fuzzy, tingly, light-av— OKAY RIGHT YES MY BAD I WON’T PUT YOU THROUGH THAT AGAIN

I will confess that I got swept up in the steampunk wave back then. And I will also confess that I still love it and do steampunk things (i made a clock) Annnnd I was just looking at antique phoropters on-line and realized that is also very much tied into steampunk aesthetic.

I've considered making videos of the lenses clicking and moving around.
