This morning Kathy told me, “you're terrible at vacationing.” I totally agreed with her. In fact, this Hawaii trip is the first “vacation” we have taken as a family. I'm defining vacation as going to a place to relax and not work. . I love my work and get fidgety when not creating images or feeling like I'm making progress towards a goal. Many of you might say we live a vacation, but the reality is I'm always creating images and searching out the next photography assignment. You just see the finished product and not all the other stuff. It might seem like a dream life, and it is. But, many things happen that don't make it to Instagram. . Since this trip was a “vacation,” I didn't bring my cameras or computer to Hawaii, only my phone and a GoPro that broke on day 3. I've regretted that decision since before I got on the plane. Kawai is full of fantastic light and opportunities to create images. @adventurous.miss brought her small Sony camera, and I've been using it to help my withdrawals. But it's not the same without taking an image from concept in my mind to finished in the computer. I thrive on the creative process. I've been getting better at Lightroom on my phone as a side effect. . Who else loves their work so much that the word vacation has a negative connotation? I'm so excited to get back to “work” I guess that's the point of a vacation, right? . @sonyalpha #photoadict #lovemywork📸 #vacationsucksforme (at Sacred Temple Garden/Rudraksha Forest) https://www.instagram.com/peterholcombe/p/CXZJ8oUvSI0/?utm_medium=tumblr
