Koan
Who hears the rumour
of the waves when nobody
is on the seashore?
In Spanish:
¿Quien escucha
el rumor de las olas
cuando no hay nadie?
Involuntary haiku-shaped koan. The Spanish version is 4-5-7, but it is beautiful as is... It is better to keep it simple. How do the non-listened sounds sound? How is the sea when nobody is looking at it?
It is not a trivial question and I have spent all my walk thinking on it.
月溢(あふ)る 匂ひしじまに ひとり覚(さ)む[山乃鯨]
すなはまへうみのひかりをおくくらげ
Forgotten
if I fell asleep
into the cold dark water
forgotten by all
In Spanish:
Si me durmiese
sumergido en el agua
... tan olvidado
Sometimes, The weight of existence is overwhelming. Sometimes, I would like to swim into the sea, at night, with my eyes open thinking that everything is far, far away from me, and all is behind, unreachable... and being unreachable myself.
As Eloyse, how happy...
How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd;
Labour and rest, that equal periods keep;
