Listening to the "Photon Bullet" episode of @wskrs.bsky.social on my bike ride this morning* cleared up my perpetual (srsly like 30+yrs) confusion about the surveillance video showing someone who is clearly not Mycroft (and instead Chinese)! I'm not sure why it never occurred to me that it wasn't literally Mycroft pulling the trigger on the lower-level Chinese guy (maybe to cover his own tracks), but rather Mycroft's hack convincing the lower-level guy to kill his boss.

I'll even take it more deeply figurative: The bullet in the video was probably a normal bullet (though the sQ writers of 1993 would absolutely have come up with "photon" bullet as something futuristic-sounding)--hence the silencer, which you wouldn't expect to be necessary for a light-based weapon. The "photon bullet in his head" was the false information planted in the guy's mind by Mycroft's phishing, which was delivered by the photons of the fiber-optic network. 🤯

*yes, I am proud of my self-control that I haven't inhaled the entire pod to date. (I do, however, have other seaQuest shenanigans afoot in the coming weeks...😏)

We are halfway through #seaQuest season 1 and it’s time for “Photon Bullet.” I’m neutral about the Lucas of it all, but it’s a pretty interesting premise.

Robin showed me “Photon Bullet” first, which makes sense. I remained insensitive to whatever it was supposed to be about Jonathan Brandis. 🤷🏾‍♀️ It was “Treasures of the Mind” that irrevocably hooked me on #seaQuest.
