I get in theory why people complain about het ships or whatever, I get wanting to watch queer media I really do, but I guess where yāall lose me is like. I saw some asshole on a post about Sinners complaining it was āhetslopāāthis person was specifically doing so while also claiming Remmick was a queer character and thus they were justified in caring more about him than the Black protagonists. which is a whole other disgusting can of worms that has been well addressed by others at this point. but even in the absence of that part of the argument, like, no, i actually donāt think that a hunger for queer stories is an especially good excuse to deride and dismiss a piece of landmark Black filmmaking, especially as a non-Black person. I have a post thatās been going around encouraging folks to engage with more Native stories and characters, and I had someone come onto that post saying in the tags that theyād need these stories to be queer in order to care. and I just think that, you know, sucks! like obviously as a queer Native I also want to see more of those stories too. but idk how else to put it other than to say that Black people and people of color shouldnāt have to be like you in order for you to care about our narratives and experiences. and I think some of yāall are using this disdain for heterosexuality as a cover for your unexamined racial biases. itās not okay to be racist to people just because those people happen to be straight, and you continue to be white before you are queer.
on an even more basic level than that, also, I simply just think some of yāall NEED to learn how to interact with media and storytelling without ships and fandom in mind. like if not being able to write fic about two men kissing is genuinely going to be a dealbreaker for you I think thatās actually something you need to work on within yourself because at that point I think youāre no longer really interacting with art and themes and narrative so much as just kind of playing with toys. which is, like, fine I guess. have fun. but it wouldnāt kill you to disengage from that from time to time. especially if would allow you to actually appreciate rich and deeply moving cultural stories from communities of color that you desperately need to learn how to see as human
im serene just like you

Collins is gone.
Namaygoosisagagun First Nation/Collins has burned to the ground. The entire community is nothing but ashes after being quickly consumed by wildfires. They did not have any support from emergency services, and no one offered aid. The community saved themselves by escaping into boats because no one came.
Mishkeegogamang and Cat Lake have lost power. Families are ending up in shelters with nothing. Armstrong, Lac La Croix, Whitesand, Gull Bay, Lac des Mille Lacs are currently in the fires path and all members are being evacuated.
All this loss, all this devastation, and it was entirely preventable.
After steadily underfunding wildland firefighting and purposefully excluding Indigenous wildland firefighters and Indigenous wildfire organizations from wildfire operations, firefighter training, decisionmaking, and resource exchanges, in 2025, Doug Ford slashed the forest firefighting budget.
It's hard to ignore his decision to cut funding and leave us out of adequate fire training (even though we've lived with forest fires for thousands of yearsāfar longer than settlers have been in Canadaāand made sure fires like the ones we're all seeing today were prevented through kinisitotÄn) when, despite making up less than 5% of the population, we account for 42% percent of all wildfire evacuations in Canada.
And when we are successfully evacuated, we face discrimination and racismālike Kashechewanābecause it's always been easier to blame us than it is to blame the true culprit: denialism, corportate greed, and colonization.
The people of Collins and every other impacted community deserve better.
Right now, the AFN is currently accepting donations to help Collins First Nation. If you're able to, please consider donating.
ONWA (Ontario Native Women's Association) is another great place to donate to. They have outreach vans going to motels and inns and offering food, water, resources, and cultural support to those impacted by the wildfires.
Other places to consider donating to are Mikinakoos Emergency Fund, Red Cross, True North Aid, Indigenous Climate Action. You can also send donations directly to Whitesand First Nation via e-transfer ([email protected]) and they request that you add your full name in the e-transfer comment section to receive a tax receipt.
*Before sending money, verify that the appeal appears on an official First Nation, Tribal Council or registered charity channel.
If you can't offer financial support, please consider donating items of need. Moontime Connections is currently accepting drop-off donations. If you live in the Thunder Bay area, Namaygoosisagagun Health Office is also taking in donations! They can also bemailed to Superior Inn Hotel & Conference Centre at 555 West Arthur Street, Thunder Bay, ON, P7E 5P8.
items needed are: food, diapers, medical masks, menās and womenās joggers (all sizes), childrenās clothing (newborn to size 14), childrenās shoes, summer clothing, menās clothing, toiletries (lotion, Vaseline, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.), strollers, adult depends-all sizes, dog & cat food

if youre black and planned on watching the finale of tvl, donāt. they have the man who lynched Louis carve a branding onto him while his head is severed from his body. there is nothing to see but pure and plain hatred of black people, of louis and jacob especially. jacob is being publicly humiliated and paraded around like this is a slave auction by rolin jones and hannah moskovitch and amc all together and i can assure you I personally will never watch a single second of anything amc makes and this will go down in textbooks next to birth of a nation for graphic grotesque whitelash and punishment of black ppl for Black Lives Matter movement. donāt watch this and let the black people in your life know not to watch it either
parkerās not singing in a language when he dies, btw. the subtitles are lazy. heās singing in vocables. itās a wordless cross-tribal honor song.
itās going to be okay in the end if itās not okay itās not the end
Happy World Chimpanzee Day!
ABOUT WORLD CHIMPANZEE DAY
In honor of humankindās closest living relative, #WorldChimpanzeeDay is a celebration of an extraordinary species: chimpanzees! On July 14, 1960, Dr. Jane Goodall arrived in what is now Gombe National Park, Tanzania, to start her trailblazing research on wild chimpanzees. To mark this anniversary, we now celebrate #WorldChimpanzeeDay on this day every year. World Chimpanzee Day was first founded by a group of NGOs, including the Jane Goodall Institute, the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance, Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection, and the Lincoln Park Zoo. This year, like every year, is a day of celebration of chimpanzees and the people who have done so much work to help save them. Join us in celebrating #WorldChimpanzeeDay on Sunday, July 14!
If my page suddenly stops posting one day, know that my baby Qais has died. I will never forget the people who saw my child bleeding, suffering, and begging for help, yet chose silence and continued scrolling.
I feel completely broken and deeply ashamed begging strangers for help every day, because this suffering has turned me into a mother forced to sacrifice even her dignity just to keep her child alive.
I want nothing from this world except seeing my baby Qais walk and laugh again. Please donate so I can buy medicine and bandages instead of expired drugs and torn clothes cleaning his wound.
Please donate now Gofundme
Every day, I fear opening my messages and finding nothing, because silence now feels more terrifying than hunger or bleeding. It feels like watching baby Qais disappear. Donate and save him.

people who say they think female characters are fundamentally uninteresting are genuinely the weakest links to me like if you cant even make yourself care about a FICTIONAL woman u kind of need to die slow
Erm, haven't you heard of, Madam Uninteresting? Her superpower is being uninteresting and she's super good at stealth
Bet ya feel real foolish now don't ya
i actually donāt think responses like these are appropriate reactions to women expressing how the misogyny they face bleeds into almost every part of their lives and admonishing the people who sustain the patriarchy by willingly participating in it

i dont really agree with "we should let people enjoy things"-isms because its broadly used as a defense for people having to confront that their favorite piece of media or creator behind said media or whatever is actually racist/sexist/homophobic/etc, but i do think that we should all become less judgmental towards things that genuinely do not matter and do not impact our lives whatsoever Ive been seeing that tweet go around about how like Tumblr ocs are all character no story or substance and how thats bad and whatever and its like man this doesnt matter. It doesnt matter. Other peoples ocs dont matter. Whether or not they exist in a full blown world doesnt matter. People being a little self absorbed doesnt matter. People doing or saying things that are not offensive but annoy you Does not matter. idk it just ticks me off seeing how much everybody in the world needs needs needs to have someone to hate and loathe and lambast and its like complaining sometimes is fine But doesnt it get tiring hating on everything. Doesnt it get tiring just being virulently critical of things that will never have a meaningful impact on your life or anyone elses life for that matter. By all means hate people who wrong you, hate people who are bigoted, who say and do and make offensive things, But if someones greatest crime is being mildly irritating to you for the five seconds they exist in the periphery of your awareness online Must we all immediately jump at the chance to lacerate them? Im no exception to this im known to hate and be irritated but idk ive found myself more and more disillusioned with baseless hostility these days for things that just fundamentally dont matter. What if we all tried being nicer to each other. And ourselves. What if
