This is a very unusual Rhamnaceae plant to me: Phylica pubescens, from the southern coast of South Africa. It feels great as well, fluffy.

Rain keeps falling and a few of our early spring favorites keep flowering: Tilt-head aloe (Aloe speciosa) and sapphire tower (Puya alpestris) are looking gorgeous in the Succulent Garden, and the Proteacea show has just begun in the South Africa Garden with Leucospermum ‘Veldfire’, Leucadendron ‘Cloudbank Ginny’, Phylica pubescens, and Leucospermum ‘Scarlet Ribbons’, just to name a few, all looking lovely. This afternoon and tomorrow look dry-ish - spring hours are now in effect so plenty of time for an after work stroll - last entry 6pm, Garden Open til 7pm. Come on out! 🌵🔷🍍🤯🤗 🇿🇦 #sfbotanicalgarden #WILDflowers_SFBG #aloespeciosa #puyaalpestris #proteaceae #spring #leucospermum #leucadendron #phylicapubescens (at San Francisco Botanical Garden)
