Rewatched Laputa yesterday (I've only seen it twice now) but the small intimacies of pazu and sheeta's relationship make me feel so warm inside
While you can definitely see the romance between them starting to form, they have such an understanding beyond that
Pazu saw a girl fall out of the sky and thought "yup, I'm gonna protect her with everything I've got" despite not even knowing her name, where she was from, and despite not even having a lot of his own things (parents, a stable job - those miners were having a hard time)
Sheeta was living her life keeping secrets, was exploited for them, and after nearly dying, meets a boy who is so welcoming and unquestioning of her, so readily generous, and so when she makes the decision to destroy Laputa, he becomes the one person she wants to protect, to stay alive, even without her
They both inspire each other to live and it makes me feel so happy and wonderful
Also that scene with the robot and the gravestone makes me feel so UGH do NOT get me started
