Phytolacca americana has a lot of common names including: American pokeweed, pokeweed, poke sallet, pokeberry, dragonberries, pigeonberry weed, and inkberry. It is native to North America. The roots are considered poisonous. Other parts of the plant can be edible if harvested at the right time and cooked properly but can also be deadly poisonous if not.
