Bitter Sweet || Jamie & Carl
“Ouch!” Jamie hissed, slapping his leg. Mosquitoes....leave it to Spring to bring in all the parasitic blood-sucking vermin.
At least the crops were thriving, though, and the weather hadn’t been all too terrible. Either way, today had been long and pretty rough overall. He made his way across the island; it was getting late, but he figured grabbing a bite to eat at the bakery might prove beneficial for his second job at the church. A little sugar might do him good, actually, after working on the farm all day.
He walked into Sweetie Bakery, but was ultimately disappointed when he noticed they seemed to be closing up shop for the night. So he had arrived too late after all. Maybe he should have ran.
He sighed. Although he was bitter, he wasn’t going to keep anyone past their work time. But maybe he could at least ask if there was anything left over from other orders. He saw a light brown-haired man come from out of the kitchen, and Jamie stared at him momentarily. “Hey.” He said for a moment, just staring at him for a moment longer before continuing. “Anything left back there? I’m not ordering anything. Don’t wanna keep you, I guess.” He grumbled, his disdain all directed towards himself at the moment.
